Snom Phones Registration/Failover Feature
Hello Mailinglist,
i was reading a paper regarding a Asterisk clustering solution and
they where pretty excited about a feature in polycom phones:
You can add a registration to a primary asterisk server
You can add a registration to a secondary asterisk server
The polycom phones will talk to the primary server as long as all goes
well, If they have a problem with an INVITE, they

CAP_FOWNER=ep for asterisk
Hello,
I need CAP_FOWNER=ep for the asterisk process, i set it with setcap on
the file /usr/sbin/asterisk, it's there when i look on it with getcap,
but after starting and loocking with getpcaps there's only
cap_net_admin+ep set.
So how exactly do I set CAP_FOWNER? Do I have to patch and recompile
or is there another solution I did not see yet?
thanks,
best

Help needed with Tinc Setup on remote hosts and lots of ISPs / Failover Problems between ISPs
Hello Guus,
thank you very much for your suggestions, I could not dive into it further because I was traveling, but now I have time to reconfigure the network.
At first I really like the idea of having 3 Daemons on the headquarter, one for each ISP. The firewall should forward the port 655 from each ISP's public IP Address to my internal server and to the ports 655, 656, 657 respectively,

Xorcom Astribank One call and dies
Hello Mailinglist,
we have a Xorcom Astribank which is installed at our client and working since 10/2008. Suddenly last week there where odd behaviors, no calls going through (it is used to route calls to GSM Gateways).
Upon testing (reinitialization of the complete gear) it turned out that one call get's through and then nothing more. I have nothing in the logs, indicating that Asterisk

maybe OT: Samba + .ps2printdriver + maschine torn down
we have performance problems with printing with cups/samba
we use samba 2.2.1a on this (print)server (sideproblem: the
authentication to another samba 2.2.0a (file)server seems to be broken)
first the printer's print postscript and we left it to cups (or
ghostscript) to render the appropriate printerdriver. but this really
torn down the maschine.
now we have the drivers installed on the

Timecondition fallthrough on 2nd GSM Modem, First modem and ZAP's are all fine
Hello,
we have an asterisk (1.4.21.2) with ZAP and mISDN channels, the mISDN are 2 incoming GSM Modems, each with 2 simcards.
No, the mISDN line one and two are fine, but when I get a call on line 3 something with the time is wrong. Timeconditions fall through to off-hours even if the time of the call is clearly inside business hours, here a log excerpt:

Question marks, asterisks, colons in filenames
Hi,
I suppose this question must have been posted a hundred times, but
Google brings up nothing useful:
Consider "The Wall" from Pink Floyd in an MP3 collection. There's "In
The Flesh.mp3" and "In The Flesh?.mp3" as tracks. Or, another example in
an MP3 collection: There's a Band called "Stellar", but there's also a
band called

streaming, non downloadable mp3 server
Hi,
I'm looking for a server software for linux that allows to share mp3 as
streams only. I came across "edna", but edna uses http as protocol, so
downloads are possible...
Is icecast good for the job, or does icecast not allow music on demand?
Cheers,
Raimund

Configs not loading
Hi,
So in the past I''ve developed using Apache 2.0 MacOSX. I''ve just started a
new project and decided to switch over to LightTPD just to try it out. This
development is purely a learning endevor for me, so I welcome the idea of
stepping into new territory. As a result, I''m not sure if this is a
lighttpd problem or a Rails one. So pardon me if this is off topic to

Constraint Optimization with constrOptim
Hi,
I am having trouble using constrOptim. My target is to do a portfolio optimization and there some constraints have to be fulfilled.
1) The weight of each share of the portfolio has to be greater than 0
2) The sum of these weights has to be 1
I am able to fulfill either the first or the second constraint but not both.
One simple way would be to fulfill the first constraint by using optim as

OpenSSH and Solaris 9/Native LDAP
I am trying to get the latest version of openssh to work on a Solaris 9
native ldap client. We have a feature in ldap called "User must change
password after reset" enabled. According to the openssh docs, it says that
it will work with the "other" accounts listed in the /etc/pam.conf. We have
tried a lot of different entries in the /etc/pam.conf. Does anyone have any
ideas on
