krb ticket for the computer account
Hi Samba community, Here is a problem I could not solve. I would like to mount a cifs share to my local Linux machine, which is bound to a windows domain using winbind. The share needs to be mounted by the linux machine's computer account. Here is what I do: # su - DOMAIN\\computer$ [DOMAIN\computercomputer ~]$ <<< i think there is a problem with the bash prompt, skip it for now

DFS not working w/ fully.qualified.sub.domain
Hi: I've got a samba/DFS server configured that works fine under it's original name, but I'm getting booted out of that DNS domain, into a subdomain. All my (WinXP) clients have drives mapped to names like \\server.domain.com\dfsroot. If I browse to the path, \\server.domain.com\dfsroot, everything works. I can access the shares pointed to via the dfs links But, now the network is

wine and ashlar's drawingboard
Hi all, I am happily using wine (0.9.58) on Opensuse 10.2 to run a few MS packages, including Ashlar's Drawingboard. Recently I got a mini Asus eeePC (with Xandros derivative debian) on which I also installed wine from the Debian Etch archive. The latest version available was also 0.9.58. One program is running fine (Quicken) on the eeePC, but Drawingboard throws up a "Panic: Internal

multiple comparison
Dear all, I was trying to understand how "multcomp" package works by running the examples given in the documentation. However I still don't understand when it comes to multiple comparison set by user (please refer to "Ksub" in the code). Therefore I run 2 other cases along with the original example (case 1), with the expectation I'll get the point from the output. The

Hello all, I have a samba 2.2.1a server running as the PDC of my network on a Mandrake 8.0 system with a reiserFS partition. I am serving for the win98 clients a small DOS clipper program with a DBF database. The programs run well on the workstations when there is only one user using it, when another user try to use the same program it starts to get very slow. I think this is a lock

Following up to my earlier report of possible data corruption with Samba 2.2.1a... Turns out it was a bug in my own network rendering software. Samba was working fine all along. Sorry for the trouble. Regards, Dan

Data corruption with samba 2.2.1a
I've been using Samba 2.0.7-4 (Redhat RPM) successfully on a Linux machine to share files with a few Win2K clients. Just recently I compiled and installed Samba 2.2.1a. It seemed to work fine for a while, but occasionally one of the Windows machines would save a corrupted file to the server... This mainly happened with a Windows 3D rendering program I use, which periodically saves 1MB image

AIX 4.3.3 MR9 SAMBA 2.2.1a runs slow
Greetings, We've been running samba for half a year and are running into problems with samba. We run NT 4 clients and it takes a good 20 seconds to go a folder deep now as opposed to the almost instentanious display of folders that we had before. Some of the clients can't even connect at this point and we are getting this error in windows: CLIENT SIDE "\\SMBSERVERNAME is not

browsing users/groups in 2.2.1a
Hi folks, I have Samba 2.2.1a running as our PDC, and I go to make a share on my Win 2000 dev box (ie. this is NOT a smb share; my box is just querying the pdc for a list of domain users and groups). When it lists the specific users and groups, I only see user names, not any groups that exist on PDC. 1. How do I get groups to show up (for instance, let's say the PDC's /etc/group has a

Samba 2.2.1a and named pipes
Can Samba write to named pipes ? I am using Netsaint/Nagios for system monitoring and the command file to write system commands to is implemented as a named pipe. I can write normal files to the directory but whenever I try and write to the pipe I get access denied. Thanks. ---------------------------- Jeff White Senior Systems Engineer Xelus, Inc. Moving from a machine with 2.2.1a to another machine with 2.2.5
Hi! We are trying to move from an old machine running SAMBA 2.2.1a to a new machine running RH8 and SAMBA 2.2.5. We tar'ed all shares and moved them over and we then copied /etc/passwd , /etc/group, smbpasswd , secrets.tdb , smb.conf to the new machine. A clip of the global section of smb.conf looks like this: [global] domain master = yes logon path = \\%N\profiles\%u encrypt passwords =
