Samba 2.2.5 under Debian 3.0 i386: Still frequent connections.tdb corruption
[CC to Debian package maintainer] Hi there, I'm still experiencing this worrysome tdb corruption even after I upgraded to 2.2.5. I built this package myself from the officially released 2.2.5 source. Here's a log snippet: Aug 3 11:15:04 Server smbd[23307]: [2002/08/03 11:15:04, 0] tdb/tdbutil.c:tdb_log(492) Aug 3 11:15:04 Server smbd[23307]: tdb(/var/run/samba/connections.tdb):

winbindd stays at 100% CPU having joined a domain
[ Please would anyone replying to this maintain the Cc list here as my dear colleague is not subscribed to this mailing list. ] Hello all, I am trying to track down an oddity with winbindd. We're using samba only to join a given domain -- so the config file is very minimal, as per: [global] workgroup = TEDDYBEARS netbios name = SMOOTHWALL realm = TEDDYBEARS.LOCAL security = ads

rec_free_read bad magic and tdb corruption with Samba 2.2.3
Hi everyone, Our system is a Debian GNU/Linux box running Linux kernel 2.4.17-xfs and Samba 2.2.3 (from the 2.2.3-5 package from Sid), built using gcc-3.0.3. With Samba 2.2.2 we hit certain tdb errors where make_connection would reject connections arbitrarily. Supposedly this was fixed using 2.2.3 so we upgraded right away (thankfully we do only have Windows 95, 98 and ME clients so we

Samba 2.2.5 on PS2-Linux (mips) - can't start smbd
Hi, I know this isn't a supported platform or anything, but I'm trying to get Samba 2.2.5 going on my Playstation 2 (mipsel-linux). There's an RPM for 2.0.something on the PS2-Linux CD, but I'm always a fan of running the latest version. It compiles okay, as long as I specity ./configure --host=mipsel-linux (not "--build=mipsel-linux" for some reason, like most

Suddenly can't print: "rec_read bad magic..."
Suddenly, today, my wife's Windows 95 machine can't print to the network printer on my Linux machine. It complains that "there was an error printing to \\posh\lp ... There was a problem printing to the port." The error 1st occurred (coincidentally?) after I had upgraded the kernel from 2.4.18 to 2.4.19. But rebooting to 2.4.18 has made no difference. We're running smbd

closewait socket state
I have a probleme with my samba server. I have a lot of closewait socket state causing the load average to increase. Samba generate some errors logs but I don't know the signification of "Signal 7 in pid xxx". For information, I am running a samba 3.0.10-1.4E.2 under a kernel Linux version 2.6.9-22 with a RHEL 3.4.4-2. Here is the log file (/var/log/messages) :

Possible bug in 2.2.3a source/script/installbin.sh (with patch)
Hi all, the file samba-2.2.3a/source/script/installbin.sh has a rather odd blindspot. It doesn't honor the --with-privatedir= option to ./configure it just blindly uses $BASEDIR/private instead. I think the fix would be:- a) move directory creation out of installbin.sh altogehter (after all what's the installdirs: target for in the Makefile?) OR b) add an extra parameter

samba-2.2.5 -- a minor "make install" problem and 2 suggestions
Hi, I would like to ask you to consider the attached patch for inclusion into the next samba release. The patch addresses the following three points: 1. 'make install' with VPATH fails at one point ( $(srcdir)/script/findsmb vs. script/findsmb ) 2. support for 'make DESTDIR=<somewhere> install' (e.g. to build a binary package) 3. support for 'configure

Patch for relocatable installs
I remember seeing a patch here a long while back that I thought was going to be committed for making the install relocatable (i.e. allowing for a DESTDIR to be specified during a "make install"). I can't find it, and I'm not sure I am remembering correctly, anyway, so here is a shot at it. Tested both the install and uninstall, run as "make install

samba on NetBSD - some patches
Hi, We (NetBSD) just received a bug report that smbclient's mput command usees find(1) with a non-standard option "-maxdepth". This was replaced with a simple call to ls(1). As I don't know how many of the patches from out Packages Collection were sent to you in the past, I'm simply sending you all our patches - please include any you like in future samba releases! BTW,

smbstatus -B segmentation fault
When using Samba 3.0.23b (slightly old, I know) on CentOS 4.4, smbstatus -B fails with a segmentation fault. smbstatus works, and tdbdump is able to dump brlock.tdb and locking.tdb without any errors (which is not what I expected). Here's the backtrace (non-ASCII characters replaced with 'X'): #0 0x0017fa2c in memcpy () from /lib/tls/libc.so.6 #1 0x0029b19f in tdb_write
