RSync on NT
Hello, I've been struggling to get RSync to work between two NT workstations (I'll call them A and B). I've got Cygwin installed on both and RSync running as a service on machine A. I want to replicate some files on machine A to machine B. I issue the RSync command on machine B and here is what I get.... (Issued on machine B): rsync.exe --verbose --stats --archive --delete

samba NT ACL support problem?
Recently, a problem developed in storing IE5's Temporary Internet Files on our samba exported network scratch space. In tracking it down, I found that the Win2k client attempts to set the ACL of the file "Content.IE5/index.dat". However, the this call ends up setting the mode of index.dat to 0407 (-r-----rwx), thus making the file unmodifiable to the user who created it. (This in

Using RSync with NT/98
Hello, I'm trying to get RSync to work between an NT workstation and a Win98 workstation. Has anybody gotten this to work? I know my NT workstation is set up correctly because I am able to RSync between two NT workstations. But when I try to RSync between an NT and Win98 workstation I get a "pipe failed on do_recv" with an RSync exit status of 10. My NT workstation is set up to

Need help to rsynch the directory structure only excluding the files from remote to local.
Hi Tim, I tried using the rsync like how you specified in your example and it worked fine. But when I tried it between my UNIX box and a remote server the command would just not complete and give any output whatsoever. This is how I did it: rsync -av --include '*/' --exclude '*' tashaikh@remotebox:/dw/etl/home/ prod/log/ /export/home/tashaikh/auto/log In the above I need to copy

[LLVMdev] LLVM for 8 bit controller
Hi, Can I get information on which all 8 bit controllers are currently supported by LLVM project and which are planned (development in progress)? Moreover, I would also like to know, how popular is LLVM for 8 bit controller and what are the advantages of using LLVM over GCC (specifically for 8 bit controllers). We are trying to explore LLVM and would like to gather as much information as

logistic regression
I have a system with a binary response variable that was hypothesized to follow a simple logistic function. The relationship between the continuous independent variable and the logit is clearly not monotonic. I have two questions. 1) Can anyone recommend a reference that describes my modeling options in this case, and 2) what facilities does R have to deal with this situation? Thanks, Kevin

PATCH to Samba >= 2.2.1, accents and special chars
Okay, I've had some fun there. Let me tell I am no samba pro, so the patch below _should be tested and tested again_ in _your_ environment before doing anything close to putting your patched samba into production. It can possibly break everything. You have been warned. The mail is somehow longish, because sending a quick (and dirty) patch without any explanation seems wrong to me. And

Need some ACL help for win32-file
Hi folks, I''ve got most everything done for the pure Ruby version of win32-file. The last thing left (since I''ll be moving the IO methods to a different package eventually) is the file security stuff. Here''s what I''ve got so far for the get_permissions method. However, I''m stuck at GetAce(). If someone could help me finish up this method, I

The issue with this is it

Digital UNIX - root authentication for SWAT
We have installed versions (1.9.18 and 2.0.3) of Samba successfully on AIX based servers without any problems. We are now trying to install Samba v2.0.4b onto a Digital UNIX 4.0d server. Everthing has installed correctly. Shares can be created through editing the smb.conf file and then accessed correctly through our NT network as desired. The problem we have is using the SWAT interface. We can

Large scale Samba installations
Hello Samba folks- I'm currently in the position of trying to convince my IT management that using Samba to provide SMB services to our NT client base is a Good Thing. Our client/server situation is as follows: o An HA cluster of two quad-cpu (400MHz) Sun Enterprise servers, with IP address takeover on failover. o About 1000 Windows NT clients connecting via SMB o

prevent workgroups from appearing in browse list
Hi, I have a samba 2.2.1a (cvs-06.08.2001) running as PDC for my domain, and it is doing fine. But in the broadcast domain there are severeal other workgroups (no domains) with their own Domain Master Browsers. Additionaly there are always a lot of unconfigured computers not under my control, which build their own workgroups (e.g. mdkhome, workgroup...). My problem is now, how do I prevent all

Win 2000 says Samba file as a revision 3 ACL (ACL_REVISION3)
Hey, Would anyone be able to point me to info on ACL_REVISION3 specifications? My lowly MSDN and SDK seem to only know about ACL_REVISION2. A file on Win 2000 share has revision 2, same file copied to samba share has revision 3. Context: I am looking at the security descriptor for files under Windows 2000.
