Sampling encoder timings between libtheora-1.0 & libtheora-1.1beta3
As requested by Ralph in my introduction e-mail to this list [1], I've
gone ahead and done some sample test timings for encoding between
libtheora-1.0 and libtheora-1.1beta3, as available from the Theora
website [2].
So far, I've tested with 4 different files that I generated with content
I already have. The files, in brief, are the following:

Greetings,
I read from archive that OCFS is for kernel 2.6. which means RHAS4.0 is
supported. However, I can't find the download for this version. Is the
support official and where can I download it.
Thanks / regards,

NULL filled corrupt files
Hello!
I've seen, some people experienced this problem earlyer, but I have
not found any solution in the mailing lists...
So the problem is, copying files from an NT Workstation (SP5 )
on a Samba server running under Linux (2.0.10) in some (rare) cases
results in files exactly of the right size but filled with NULL bytes.
I'm using samba 2.0.5a and likely since version 2.0.0 this

Ocfs-users Digest, Vol 37, Issue 2
Ivan,
I found the same thing after doing an upgrade a couple of months ago and
mailed this list. Never got a response.
We had to fdisk the shared disks and remount them and restore db from
backup.

Mainland "Equatorial Guinea" missing?
In the World map, mainland "Equatorial Guinea" seems to be missing although
two offshore parts, "Equatorial Guinea:Annobon" and "Equatorial
Guinea:Fernando Po", are present. I'd like to be able to fill the mainland
piece. How can I correct this? Thanks.

As a matter of fact the intelligence of this bird is
comparable to one of a monkey, although its brain is close to
a reptile brain. R is quite the same : small, compact, but so
clever.

how to suppress the intercept in an lm()-like formula method?
I'm trying to write a formula method for canonical correlation analysis,
that could be called similarly to lm() for
a multivariate response:
cancor(cbind(y1,y2,y3) ~ x1+x2+x3+x4, data=, ...)
or perhaps more naturally,
cancor(cbind(y1,y2,y3) ~ cbind(x1,x2,x3,x4), data=, ...)
I've adapted the code from lm() to my case, but in this situation, it
doesn't make sense to

Speed/latency issues for development in a Wine environment
I am an experienced Linux developer but a Wine newbie. Recently I have been
exploring the possibility of using CMake-2.8.1 and MinGW-4.5.0 in a
Wine-1.1.42 environment (the backported Debian Lenny packages from WineHQ)
to check that CMake-based build systems I use for various software projects
work properly for that Windows platform. I am collecting notes for a wiki
entry I am planning to write

Wine 1.0 on Fedora 16 64-bit
Hello
I am trying to install Oblivion on Fedora 16 64-bit but am having problems with the install sheild crashing. I have read that this is because of the 64 bit wine so I am trying to build an older version of wine from source. However I am having problems with this aswell. I suspect that this is because of the 64-bit OS aswell. the reason I say this is that it appears 'make' is still

influence measures for multivariate linear models
Barrett & Ling, JASA, 1992, v.87(417), pp184-191 define general classes
of influence measures for multivariate
regression models, including analogs of Cook's D, Andrews & Pregibon
COVRATIO, etc. As in univariate
response models, these are based on leverage and residuals based on
omitting one (or more) observations at
a time and refitting, although, in the univariate case, the

OT: wifi, phone, power in India and Malaysia
A not so technical friend in India is shopping for a laptop. He often
travels and stays months in Malaysia and so needs to be able to use the
laptop there as well. He typically connects to the internet via wifi,
but sometimes must use a telephone line (yes, with a modem). And of
course there will be times when he has to plug into mains power to
recharge the battery. So to be able to fully use

Jump Raven
Has anybody had any success getting Jump Raven to install, much less run? I
bought the game many years ago and thought I would try it out on Wine, seeing
as it is a Windows 3.1 game and probably won't work in XP.
Fedora Core 4 all updated except for the last kernel, wine-0.9.10 (Fedora's
packaged version).
I am running off of the CD at /media/cdecorder. The setup proceeds showing me
