wiping of unused space on ext3
Hello, I was asked if it is possible to zero unused space in ext3 partition? Users write to the server via Samba and are far from computer geeks so teaching them to use some safedelete utility is quite impossible. Is there some way or utility to wipe out all the data from unused space? Thanks, Mindaugas

Problem with %U and %G variables
I have a server running Samba 2.0.5a and RedHat 6.1. I am having a problem with the %U and %G variables. I have two lines in my smb.conf file that read: include = /home/samba/smb.conf.%U include = /home/samba/smb.conf.%G In the /home/samba directory I have a file for each user and their group. For instance, I have a smb.conf.engineering file. When someone from the engineering group goes to the

/proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/register: no such file or directory
I get this during booting? Anyone have any ideas? I'm running redhat 7.1 w/ kernel 2.4.9-6 and the wine version from the powertools cd. Latest version of wine does it also. I get this error when installing from redhat powertools too: "execution of %post scriplet from wine 20010131-3 failed, exit status1" but it installs and seems to work... just my windows service doesn't

xvidtune powertools CentOS 8
Hi All - I was looking all over for xvidtune on Centos 8. could not find it. tried yum provides "*/xvidtune" tried yum search xvidtune Google pointed me to: https://centos.pkgs.org/8/centos-powertools-x86_64/xorg-x11-apps-7.7-21.el8.x86_64.rpm.html So I installed the apps and of course xvidtune is part of that. However just curious why the provides or search did not point me there ?

C8 Questions
Hi all, I've several questions about C8. I'm using 8 on my personal NAS and works very well. I'm running several VMs with centos 8 and noticed something: 1) Why corosync, pacemaker and pcs are missing on C8? They are only available on rhel with payments( rhel ha addons)? 2) Why there is only Gnome as available DE? I use centos on my workstation and I'm a kde-plasma user. XFCE
