Samba 2.0.3 and NT Terminal Server SP4/MetaFrame 1.8
I'm running NT 4.0 Terminal Server (Service Pack 4) with Citrix MetaFrame 1.8 on a PC, and Samba 2.0.3 on an HP-UX box. We've been having occasional problems with files not saving correctly, and also with files not unzipping or copying correctly. I suspect it's some sort of incompatibility between Samba and Terminal Server/Metaframe and/or SP4. For

Problems Using the MultipleUsersOnConnection Registry Key in WTS NT4
Hi. I am running SAMBA 2.0.7 on HP-UX 11.00 and HP-UX 10.20. I have tried adding the MultipleUsersOnConnection registry key onto my Microsoft Windows NT Server 4 Terminal Server Edition servers, running with Service Pack 6. After I make this change in the registry and reboot my WTS servers all my samba connections from the servers are still being made with one process instead of being split

Hung smbd processes and failing server
Running samba 2.06 on Solaris 2.6 and CIFS/9000 on HPUX11. Accessing from NT 4.0 Terminal server. We are seeing the following symptoms. Can anyone offer any diagnostic advice... Users will connect to samba servers and be working along ok. Without warning, the connection starts to act flaky. e.g. can't save documents, file system browsing becomes very erratic. WTB / WTS Voip hardware
I've got a Wildcard T100P along with a Zhone Zplex 10 24S/O which has been working fine for me now for a while. These have been pulled out of a working Asterisk installation (as they were no longer required) to use at home only to find that the fan noise is too loud. As such I'm looking to sell off this hardware and replace it with some combination of fanless hardware that will allow me to

DOS client - basic redirector
Hello, As I mentionned in a previous mail, I cannot connect to Samba 1.9.18p7 using a basic dos redirector and security set to user. I works with share security level or with the full dos redirector which takes 90 k more precious memory ... I got a answer telling me that the dos basic redirector is a piece of ... because it always encrypt the password, even if instructed to use plain text ...

So, I guessed at encryption, got 'libdes', > recompiled my smbd (again), found a 'spare' Silicon Graphics server and > installed Encryption on it. (ENCRYPTION.txt is very good). Yep, good guess. All encrypted passwords in SMB are 24 bytes long. The "basic

Many asterisk server behind a redirector?
If you have the need to implement 5 asterisk boxes each one handling only 100 ulaw calls (same dialplan, etc.) logging to a six MYSQL server , what do you use in *front* of the asterisks? Codecs, hardware, etc is not important. The thing that Im trying to figure out is how do I present the asterisk servers to a bunch of phones and/or FXStoSIP boxes. a sip proxy is not the solution because the sip

redirector timeout ?
I am running samba 1.9.18p3 on Solaris 2.5.1 The clients are NT 4.0 sp3 Everything was running smoothly, and then I applied the solaris "y2k" patches. Now, most accesses to samba will hang for a minute or 2, before completing. In the event log I see messages like: The redirector has times out a request to <server name> This did not used to happen. This is very puzzling,

Win NT redirector error
Hi, I am running Samba 2.0.4b under Solaris 2.5.1 on a SPARC20. I have several NT users accessing the system and a few are getting redirect errors. Under the event viewer, NT reports "The redirector received an SMB that was too short." The errors occur upon accessing the file system. It's a new one on me and I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting. Any ideas? Thanks.

Samba and Citrix Metaframe.
Hi Folks, I was wondering if anybody else on this list is using, or trying to use, Samba (esp. on an IBM mainframe) as a print server in a Citrix Metaframe environment, or are we the first? We're getting one or two odd problems... Metaframe is creating the printers on our Samba server as "Client" printers, rather that connecting to them direct. We can connect and print fine from

Occasional failure of authentication
Every once in a while a user cannot connect to one of two samba servers. Most of the time (but not always), if he waits 15 minutes to an hour, he can connect successfully. Sometimes he can connect to one server, but not the other, which have the same configuration. We are using authentication from the NT server. Samba version 2.0.3 The messages in the log file are are shown below. In this

Urgent Help pls - NT4.0 Term Server and SAMBA - RDR timeouts
Hello, I'm new to this list. The NT folk here, are concerned about some timeout errors and stuff that appear in their event viewer. They are building a case to convince management that unless these "samba" errors are fixed, we should move to NT file shares. I think this is a bad idea. Can anyone help me out here. We are running samba 2.0.6 (1st msg) and 2.0.5a (2nd err msg)
