multi-subneted network browsing problem

several other subnets - 10.105.27.0/27, 10.105.27.96/27, ...,

WINS over multiple subnets
Hello, everybody!
I have two networks (192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0) connected across a wireless
router with two NICs. I can ping everything allright via ip address, but not
by name across subnets. Things on the same subnet ping allright by name.
Here are the smb.conf files for my two master browsers:

Pb with 2.0.6/2.0.7 and browsing
Hello,
When my Samba is the local master browser, it doesn't appear in the
Network Neighborhood of the client. There is only the client itself.
When the client (Windows NT 4 Workstation) is the local master, the
Network Neighborhood shows the only two nodes that I have on my test
network, ie the Samba server and the NT 4 Workstation.
For the browsing, I use the default

Network neighborhood problems
I have setup a small office of 6 win95/98 workstations and a Samba share
(SuSE, Samba 2.0.6) on a P90 with 32MB of RAM and 2, 2GB HD?s. File sharing
and PDC functions work perfectly (better than any NT machine). However, I
cannot get the samba computer to show up in network neighborhood. I set the
netbios name to SAMBA and wins = yes. When I go to start => run and type

Hi,
I had a working 2.0.6 samba on a RH6.2 system with a 2.4.14
kernel. Clients are all win98/win95 except a win/me laptop. I recently
upgraded to 2.2.3a ( from source) and since then I cannot see any of
the clients in the "network neighborhood". I cannot even see the
workgroup under the "entire network". All clents are

Few questions 2.0.6 is there a network neighborhood like app for linux(KDE) and tweaking more speed on moving files.
ok I finally got 2.0.6 up and running, much thanks to those who helped.
currently I have it set up on a 166, with a 2gig drive running suse6.0 with
kernel version 2.0.36. I am using an NT PDC, with samba authenticating via
the server. a few things. For some reason periodically when I browse the
server
my home directory will not show up. now that i think I may be logging in as

strange Win9x-Problem with "case sensitve" - option
Hi,
we've got a strange problem with "case sensitive = yes"
using 2.0.5a with Win95/98 clients:
Directorys directly below the share seem to be empty,
if the dirname is lowercase !!?
Below uppercase dirs everything is allright and the probem
doesn't exist with NT4.0.
If we choose "case sensitive = no" everything is allright.

Why Is Printing Such a Problem?
I have Samba 2.0.6.3 (or is it 6.5?) running on a SuSE 6.2 system. I
currently have three Windows 95/98 clients attached to my linux machine,
which is a firewall/gateway to the internet via cable modem.
When I was using Samba 1.-something, I was able to print to the printer on
the linux box from two of the three Windows 95 machines on the network.
Since I upgraded to 2.0.6, I haven't been

Best practice multi-homed AD DC
Dear all,
as I am currently planning a network with Samba AD DC I was wondering if
you can recommend any best practice for a multi-homed AD DC.
My current plan is to have one NIC for Samba services and a second one
dedicated to management functions (e.g. SSH) on a separate network
restricted to admin users.
In a testbed scenario I already discovered that once both adapters exist,
samba seems to

Bizarre multi-homed name resolution with nmbd?
Hi,
I connected a multi-homed Win95 machine (carrot, see below) to two
networks (ankh-net and morpork-net) which a multi-homed Linux machine
running Samba 1.9.18p10 (or whatever the latest <2 is) was also connected
to (vimes) and wanted to see which of the two interfaces Win95 would

GSSAPI Key Exchange on multi-homed host
>From a security standpoint, if the default keytab (/etc/krb5.keytab)
contains only ONE principal, does it matter if GSSAPIStrictAcceptorCheck

My company uses an internally built OpenSSH package that includes the
GSSAPI Key Exchange patch. Because we have 1000s of hosts, we need to use
a "standard" sshd_config file that works for the

Problems with chan_sip on multi-homed hosts
Hey all,
I'm experiencing a problem with chan_sip on a multi-homed machine.
The machine has 1 interface to the rest of the world and 1 interface
on a local network. The local network has public IP-addresses, though,
and the IP-addresses of both interfaces are reachable from the outside
world, but by default, outgoing traffic from that machine to the outside
world will have the IP-address of

Multi-homed faq or docs needed
I tried to implement a multi-homed box using this faq
4.2.1 split access

But it says table is invalid. Can someone tell me
what the difference is in Centos? I assume the FAQ is
leaving out how to add tables to the iproute files?
I am trying to have eth0 and eth1 service two
different subnets for apache and not act as a

Best practise is: do not multi-home a DC.

Multi-homed interface name resolution
Hi,
(I think I posted this a few weeks ago, but I haven't found the solution
and had no replies.)
I have a multi-homed server, one interface of which is on the same subnet
as the majority of clients and the other is on a different one (but still
reachable, through a router).
When connecting to the server, it seems to be chance which one of these
interfaces I get.
I believe DNS servers
