can you post any log entries or a more descriptive explination of the problem? What OS are you using? Have you tried upgrading to 2.0.7? Show us your smb.conf file. This like that will help us determine the problem you are encountering. -- Dan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jordi Solis" <gulthaw@hotmail.com> To: <samba@lists.samba.org> Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 12:05 PM Subject: HELP!!!> (sorry for my english) > > Hi, I'm a Network Admin and I've a BIG problem... > I start the SMB services, but, one moment later... it's stopped... > The NMB service are allright... Hi Jordi, some info is needed before any help is useful: 1. what system are you running samba on? 2. what does your smb.conf look like 3. turn on log level=10, and let's take a look at WHAT the last thing the smbd daemon is doing before it goes away... I am sorry but I need some help, and I can't seem to find the correct path on your web site for technical support. To make a long story short, we have SWAT, and it is loaded on a Sun OS, and up until recently we have used a Windows NT domain. But due to corporate push, we are now, slowly migrating into a Active Directory situation running Windows 2000. My problem is this, the users in unix can not map drives shared on the unix boxes while logged into the new AD domain. However they can log into the older domain running Windows NT. I quess I have some questions, 1: Will Samba work in AD? (fyi: I have 1 user who has no problems, and I can not figure out why) I am one of those users who can not map drives to the unix box,(in the new domain) and he and I have the same permissions? Is there a way to set Samba up to authenticate to both domains? Can I get some help please? We are running RedHat Linux 7.3 with Kernel 2.5.8 (Upgraded from 2.4.18). The Samba version is 2.2.5. We still got the same problem as we used the kernel 2.4.18: The command 'ls | wc -l' often returned incorrect numbers in a mounted directory. The following is the set up in /etc/fstab: //usbbb01/Incoming /usr/local/customer/orders smbfs username=mouse, password=.xxxyyyy workgroup=usbdid01,uid=cignal,gid=users,port=445,debug=4,ttl=10000ms,rw 1 2 The 'usbbb01' is a Win2000 server. The smbfs mount used to be OK when 'usbb01' was a NT server. This issue really impacts our business! Is any suggestion? Thanks advanced!!! David
