I'm having serious problems with Samba not working properly. Clients can't log into the server for some reason. I'm trying to run through the diagnosis stuff at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/DIAGNOSIS.html and when I try to do a net view \\samba-server at a pc DOS prompt, I get 'System error 1728 has occurred. A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error occurred."

Help. I've cleverly saved a backup with smbtar -v -s planpc4 -x backup -t /dev/rmt/1c -p password How do I get some files on this drive back?? I've got a W98/Samba LAN running with a 3Com OfficeConnect LANModem for shared internet access. Periodically, like every 10 minutes, it dials out, due to a DNS request for the workgroup/domain (same) name. Any fix for this? Can I just put a dummy address in all the host files? I'll ask this again, as nobody has answered or addressed this issue yet. 2.0.7pre2 (although it has never worked) Intel Linux 2.2.13 Samba server serves as WINS server for 3 domains. It joined 1 of the domains using smbclient. security=domain I can see entries for the 3 domains in WINS.DAT, and entries for the 3 PDCs in WINS.DAT. On the same subnet as the samba server, there is an NT3.51

This only happens with PCs on the other end of a bridged 56k DDS line. It also affects DOS and W98 clients the same. Clients can log onto the domain ok, and browse. But trying to drag a file, or even right-click it in W98 explorer, cause the machine to hang, and eventually blue screen with a VREDIR VXD error. I've set "force directory mode = 1775" in smb.conf, but when I make directories in a share through network neighborhood, I end up with 0775, i.e. user has rwx, group rwx, others rx. Hi, I have 2 Dell Poweredge servers which are not connected to the network. We are trying to create a Virtual lab using these 2 servers and a couple of Cisco switches. I have installed Centos 7 with the "Virtualization" option. Now I would like to use Ovirt as the Hypervisor/VM management tool. Since my servers are not connected to any network, how/what should I download from
