I can force a browser election with the Win98 command: net view /workgroup:workgroupname However, that does not work on NT (and I haven't tried it on W95). What I'd really like is a command from the Linux command line to force the election. I've looked everywhere and can't find it. Hi, i have a annoying problem that drives me crazy. We have set up a Digital/Unix box with samba and the clients (W95) can mount the shares from this box. On the Unix side we create a textfile which will be periodically (or not) appended with new data. A Application on the W95 side reads this file. The Problem is, that the textfile has new lines, the Application don't see them !!! To

All, As some of have no doubt found out, scripting is subtly different on 95/98 machines and NT machines. I have a logon script called by: logon script = xxxx\main.bat %G %U that works great for NT boxen. However it does absolutely nothing, no execution of main.bat at all for a W98 client.
