Browsing Question Here Too!
I've got a samba server, acting as 95 PDC, and WINS, on 1 subnet. It is routed to another subnet. All PCs use the same workgroup name. How can I get the PCs to all appear in Network Neighborhood? They all register with the samba/WINS server. "Find Computer" works, but only PCs in the local subnet are visible when you open NN. Any hints? I've tried "remote announce =

Digital UNIX - root authentication for SWAT
We have installed versions (1.9.18 and 2.0.3) of Samba successfully on AIX based servers without any problems. We are now trying to install Samba v2.0.4b onto a Digital UNIX 4.0d server. Everthing has installed correctly. Shares can be created through editing the smb.conf file and then accessed correctly through our NT network as desired. The problem we have is using the SWAT interface. We can

NT4 SP3 and Samba - Connection problems
Hello All, First, I am new to Linux. I am having troubles with NT4 SP3 and samba-1.9.18p5: some NT4 nodes can map Linux and/or Unix drives, some others can't. The errors messages are: - this account is not authorized to login from this station or - incorrect password or unknown username (but I am sure that login/password are ok) I have already check the EnablePlainTextPassword = 1 in the

Samba mapped drive to XP on logon
Hi- I'm having a recurring problem with Windows XP and a Samba share on logon. More specifically, I have a Samba (v 3.0.24 on Debian Etch) share with share permissions (not a domain) mapped to a drive in Windows XP Pro. Whenever someone logs onto an XP Pro computer in the network the drive isn't there. Here's an example: Say there's a document on the shared drive and a

multiple subnet browsing problem
I having difficulty getting browsing to fully work across two subnets. The subnets (having private addresses - 192.168.x.0) are connected by Linux boxes (RH6.1, one for each subnet) functioning as firewall, IP masquerade and router. On one subnet (call this one LEFT), there is an NT4.0 server as the PDC (also running WINS and DHCP) along with 50 or so clients and other servers (NT, Win9x) in

[LLVMdev] buildbot failure in LLVM on ppc64le-sanitizer
Hi, My New Year's resolution is to complain (constructively) whenever I get a spurious build failure email from a buildbot. For new or infrequent contributors especially, they can be extremely confusing and unnecessarily alarming. This one below is the first build ever attempted by the builder, so how on earth can it have come up with a meaningful blame list? And in any case, surely we

How do I force a browser election?
I can force a browser election with the Win98 command: net view /workgroup:workgroupname However, that does not work on NT (and I haven't tried it on W95). What I'd really like is a command from the Linux command line to force the election. I've looked everywhere and can't find it. For my purposes having preferred master=yes and restarting Samba is not an option. Does anyone

Browsing Win98 shares from NT on a Samba-controlled domain
I am running a small network consisting of a few Win98 machines, 2 NT (SP6) machines and a Samba 2.0.6 PDC. I am using domain logons, and everything is working fine. However, when I try to list the shares on a Win98 box fron an NT machine, having logged on with a domain-authenticated account, the Win98 boxes return an "Access Denied" error. If I do the same with a local account on the
