[Samba] Connection issues between Win98 & Samba 2.2.2
Hi all, All Win98 & Win2k used to be able to connect, but as of last week only one Win2k is able to access the share folder, but not without a little issue. Another Win2k in the same subnet have intermittent connection issue and Win98 is not able to access the folder. Setup: Samba 2.2.2 install into Solaris8 in a subnet with two other Win2k server. This subnet is connect to a number of Win98 and one Win2k server (let call it A) via a Router. For the NetBios name to be available, we have one Win server in this subnet which all the system is pointed to. The Win2k servers on the same subnet sometime can connect and sometime can't. (50-50) Using Net View \\IP <file:///\\IP> or Net View \\hostname <file:///\\hostname> sometime show the share and sometime timeout. Tried using Lmhosts. All Win98s are not able to connect. But nbtstat -A IP can work The "A" Win2k server (not on the same subnet) is able to connect most of the time, using WINS or Lmhosts. But sometime only via IP and sometime both, using net view \\IP <file:///\\IP> or \\NetBios <file:///\\NetBios> Name to test. Details: Net view \\IP <file:///\\IP> result = all shared folder appear Net view \\NetBios <file:///\\NetBios> Name = time out But when I did a nbtstat -a NetBiosName, it work and ping NetBiosName work too.. But after sometime, Net View \\NetBios <file:///\\NetBios> work too. All system seems able to find the samba server, test using ping using IP or NetBios name. Checked the WIN server, the Samba server appear.. Using Netstat, it show the PC did connect to the Samba.. Using nbtstat -A or -a, the MAC address is always 00-00-00-00-00 Hope someone can help.
