Samba 2.2.5 printing problems
Hi all, I'm having problems getting SPOOLSS support working correctly. (Samba 2.2.5 on FreeBSD 4.5.) Often when viewing settings on the shared printers, I get a wonderful 'illegal operation' error in either explorer.exe or spoolsvs.exe (many things seem to trigger this error - especially attempting to select additional drivers). Secondly, when things don't crash, I am able to

Samba 1.9.17 server is not showing up in PDC browser list.
Hi, I've just upgraded to Samba 1.9.17, but I can't get my samba server that resides in a differnet subnet to show up in the PDC's browse list. I've got samba configured as the local browse master and am registering with the wins server with: domain master = no local master = yes preferred master = yes os level = 65 wins support = no

Documentation updates...
Hi all, Just a couple of suggestions for documentation updates. First of all, perhaps you should include the following about Windows XP and slow logons/long delays in opening files: Windows XP and slow network logons/long delays in opening files =============================================================== Windows XP includes a WebDav client that attempts to open shares via HTTP. The long wait

WG: parsing fix for spoolss & samba-2.2.5
I can only confirm, that the bug still there (since version 2.2.3). I also have exactly the same problem. With samba version 2.2.2 was OK. I will be fantastic, if someone can help to fix it. Thanks! AW: duplex settings [ was Re: parsing fix for spoolss & s amba-2.2.5]
Hi Jerry, It seems that the "samba-2.2.5-printing.patch" has only fixed the problem for PCL drivers. With PS drivers (Laserjet 4050 PS) are the duplex & tray settings still missing. unix password sync problems!
I have been trying for hours to get the unix password sync going properly with Samba 1.9.18p4 running on FreeBSD 2.2.5 I have compiled Samba with the ALLOW_CHANGE_PASSWORD option enabled. I created the smbpasswd file as ENCRYPTION.txt states, and can set passwords as root. However, when a user tries changing their password, it doesn't work. The error reported is:

nmbd strangeness with 2.0.6
Hi all, I finally upgrded Samba to 2.0.6 last night. After doing so, I have observed some strange behaviour. First of all, although domain master, local master and preferred master are all set to true, the server running samba fails to become the local master browser on one subnet (succeeds on another subnet though). The messages from the log file are as follows: [2000/03/16 22:08:50, 0]

Domain Administrator cannot map Samba Share from Windows 7
I changed our Samba file server to be a member of the Active Directory domain. This way, domain users on Windows 7 workstations can map Samba shares with domain credentials automatically. That bit works fine. Problem #1: I use the Domain Administrator account (Administrator) as the main login account for the SQL Server host (also Windows 7). I can still log into that host with the

quick poppassd question
Hello, I did a quick change to the patched port of poppassd and am wondering if you think my code would introduce any potential problems. The idea is right after we check if the username exists, also check if the UID of that username is over 1000. I wanted to make sure that no one monkeys around with priveleged users once poppassd is running. So, the middle chunk of code is mine, everything

Help on CRAM-MD5
I don't desagree with your vision, but if the use of CRAM-XXXX has to use plaint text password's on the server there's a dark side, or there's a CRAM-XXX that can use encrypted on server side? There's always the thing that can clients don't support it. I think i'm not wrong with what i said, On 20 Jun 2019, at 02:53, FUSTE Emmanuel via dovecot <dovecot at

Non-uniformly distributed plot
Hi, I would like to plot a linear relationship between variable x and y. Can anyone help me with scaled plotting and axes so that all data points can be visualized somehow evenly? Plaint plot(x,y) will generate condensed points near (0,0) due to several large data points. Thank you. Eric > x [1] 0.3497630 3.3948900 1.5224900 0.2690660 0.1078720 0.0451689 0.5902680 0.2757550

SSH connection hangs with ipchains/RH6.2/OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 (butnot <= 2.3.0p1)
I figured this out -- looks like 2.5.1p1 is now using ports < 1024 on the client side (wasn't before?). I had a ipchains rule to allow ACK packets to 1024:65535, which was good enough for <= 2.3.0p1 : #allow only ACK tcp packed ipchains -A input -j ACCEPT -i eth0 -s any/0 --dport 1024:65535 -p tcp ! -y So I added the following : #allow return from ssh connections ipchains -A input -j

Network Neighborhood
Hello, sorry for this posting, I know you must have answered this hundreds of times, but I cannot get my samba servers to appear on the network neighborhood on the W95 client machines. Can anyone tell what?s missing from my smb.conf files? The problem should be the same on all of the samba servers, how do I have to configure samba to show up in the network neighborhood? Thanx in advance. --

Case sensitivity and Win95
The company I work for uses samba to allow access to Unix files from PCs running Windows 95. When I create a file from my PC on the samba drive with a name including upper case letters, the name is forced into all lower case: I cannot create a file name containing an upper case letter. From Unix, I can create (and see from my PC) mixed-case file names. I asked my system administrator

If you go there, you can say you have the Modem on your PC or you can say it is in the Network and you have to put in the Networkpath. It would be great to use this with Samba but at this time I think Samba doesnt support it. Maybe someone has some Information for me how I

SamplingStrata R package
Hi all I am hoping to use the SamplingStrata R package for a dataset describing a population of businesses wherein I have information on the type of business, as well as, for designated employment number bands, number of employees and business turnover information. So in this context the employment number bands can be described as micro, small, medium and large, i.e. size of business. Hence I
