SWAT issue
I have had a RH5.2 server running Samba up for a long time. I upgraded to Mandrake 6.0. It broke Samba, so I reinstalled using the RPM on the CD. Samba works just fine, but SWAT will not! If I try to start it manually (/usr/sbin/swat) it just hangs. In /etc/services I have a line like this: swat 901/tcp In /etc/inetd.conf I have: swat stream tcp nowait.400 root

Advanced printers shares
Hi Here the problem. I am using samba 2.0.10 on sparc Solaris 8 platform in a Nis env. Currently we have about 100 or so printers listed in printers.conf nis map, these printers cover our 5 sites which all use the same nis env. Each site has one Domain master, and a local master on any separate subnets, as not all is in the same domain. When ours users log into a samba server they are

Unsupported Printers - just "sticks" in the lpd queue ;(
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello: I've configured a Linux box with Samba to act as a secondary domain controller for an existing NT server. I've gotten everything working very nicely, all my file shares set up, etc. I've got 6 printers that I need to set up as print shares. The ones that speak Postscript or PCL were very easy to set up, and work admirably.

No Printer!
Please please help! I have a Redhat server 7.2. It has been running fine for nearly 18 months. I recently changed the IP on this computer and am now unable to use the printer via Samba. The printer is fine on the local box and prints without hesitation. If I add an new printer on a windows box and browse for it it shows up under the Samba share and even allows me to install. However when I

Printing from XP Pro in AD domain to stand alone SAMBA
Hi; I can't seem to find anything in the docs that quite matches this, but if there is a doc, just point me to it. The situation is this. I have samba running on my home net. It's running as a standalone server in user mode so that users on computers at home can have home directories and and access to the printer. When I bring my laptop home from work, I occasionarlly need to print

Printing via smbprint to a WinPrinter

I'm able to connect via smbclient, with smbclient //windowsme/printer -U '' -N and I receive the smb> prompt Now, when I try to print any file, nothing comes out from the printer. The printer is a Canon LBP-810 which, according to www.linuxprinting.org site, is a WinPrinter. My

OT, hardware: new router and a USB winprinter
Well, the router I've had for some years now, that I had DD-WRT on, borked itself. Went out and bought a new one, an Asus RT-AC66U. Now, I've got this 11 yr old cute HP Laserjet... and it's a winprinter. With the version of the DD-WRT I had, all I had to do was send the magic M$ data to it, it would wake up, the lights on the printer telling me that it was installing that. New printer

unsupported auth mechanism
Hi, last friday I upgraded from dovecot-2.3.10.1_2 to dovecot-2.3.11.3 (FreeBSD). Since then, I started having some issues with some customers. The log I see is like: pop3-login: Disconnected (tried to use unsupported auth mechanism): user=<username at domain.it>, method=USER, rip=x,y,x,z, lip=x,y,w,z, session=<e5KkR5qto8hPAL9q> While, before upgrade, same user logged

printer frustrations
I've got an old HP LaserJet 1018. It's a winprinter. After I bought a new router (to go inside the Verison one), I plugged it directly into my box (ok, via a hub). I run CentOS 6. Before we went on the trip, I could print, I upgraded my system, and this is the first time I'm trying to print... and no joy. I've tried sending the firmware to it via lp -o raw ... -h :9100, and
