Trying to install SAMBA
GREETINGS to SAMBA TEAM!
I've been trying to put up samba (version 1.9.18) to act
as a lan manager in a small network of linux and win95 boxes.
The network seems ok and has been operational for sometime now.
PING, TELNET, FTP, NFS, MASQUERADING, REMOTE X-WINDOWS are all
working fine. I need to put up samba to allow sharing of files
and resources between the linux boxes and the win95 boxes.

Strange samba problem with Win XP
Hello list,
I don't know what is breaking my samba box but I am really very
worried and confused !! My samba server has no problem with linux
client. "smbclient -L <samba IP> -U <samba user>" runs well. No
problem at all. But whenever I try to access the shares from Win-XP it
reports that "path not found". And after repeatedly trying the same

Folks,
I looked through the archives, but didn't see anything like this.
I have a network with a mix of Win95, Win98, and WinME clients (and one
Linux system w/ Samba server version 2.2.2).
All systems belong to a workgroup called "Oteima".
All Win95 and Win98 clients see all other systems (including the Linux
box) in one list.

Needs help on SAMBA.
GREETINGS!
I'm a new linux user trying to upgrade my home office with the linux OS
and SAMBA.
I have a mix of linux workstations together with WIN95 machines.
A lot of the linux things are working fine. The ip masquerading, NFS,
X-Windows, the
Apache Server, etc.
I am now trying to install SAMBA so that the WIN95 boxes and LINUX boxes
can share files
and printers.

Frustrated with browsing, domains, and network logins ...
I'm trying to get cross-network browsing/domain logins working. In brief,
I am very frustrated. We thought the initial problem was a browsing
problem, but now it does not appear to be that. Even once the workstation
can see the servers, it STILL cannot perform a Domain login, although it
CAN access resources if I use the Ms Dos prompt and issue a 'net use ...'
command.

Samba won't share: ?nmblookup problem
Hi,
I hope you can help! I am having problems getting samba to share
across a large private network. The problem looks a bit like the
problem is in resolving the name to an IP but I can't work out why.
The network is a private (10.) network, and the PC's connecting to
it are named and identified through Wins. All the PC's are running
Novell clients to connect although a large

newbie help, please?
Hi,
I'm trying to get a Samba (version 3.0.8pre1-0.pre1.3) to play with some
WinXP boxes. I'm using WORKGROUPS, not DOMAIN. The server is running
under Fedora Core 3. And I'm following the troubleshooting chapter in
the O'Reilly book, Chapter 9.
I cannot browse the shares from my WinXP machine. I CAN browse and
access shares okay as a client on the Samba server machine.

Impossible to obtain the NETBIOS name of a Win95 box using samba 2.0.5..0
Dear all,
I loose hope to be able to obtain the NETBIOS name of
a Win95 box using the following command :
nmblookup -A ipaddress
Some of my user are using laptops and are connecting
the network by a remote lan access.
The IP address is attributed by the RLA supplier.
I included in the login process (telnet) of our
Administrative AIX server a NETBIOS name check of the
calling machine. If the

IPv6 broken under AIX?
I've tried to get OpenSSH_3.7.1p2 to work over IPv6 under AIX 5.1.0 and
5.2.0 without success. If I configure sshd to listen to an IPv6 address
it will take the uppermost 32 bits of the IPv6 address and interpret it
as an IPv4 address.
sshd_config:

Looking up Netbios name of host
Hi-
Ok, this is puzzling me. I have two machines on different networks
running Samba 1.9.18p10. On one machine, which is running Redhat 5.1, I
can do "nmblookup -A <IP ADDRESS>" and get the IP address of a host on
the LAN. This network also has an NT server domain controller, but I
doubt that matters in this case, since I'm querying the machine
directly.
The second machine

Samba NOT using WINS? (was: network is busy / login failures)
Ok folks, the saga continues, but this is an issue
that I think should concern all Samba users/sysadmins.
It appears to me that Samba is NOT communicating with
the WINS server (at least not consistently) for
authentication of login requests when a pc tries to
get logged in and map a drive letter to a share.
In smb.conf I have the following relevant entries:
name resolve order = wins host bcast

WINS resolving problem
Hello,
I have the following problem with NetBIOS name resolving using nmbd.
Here's my configuration:
Subnet A (domain A) contains Win95/98/NT and Samba nodes. They can see
each other only via broadcast. None of these has WINS enabled. On subnet B
(domain B) all nodes have WINS enabled and there is a local master browser
for domain B on the net. The WINS server is a Linux 2.2 based router

Tracking WINS Problems
I'm having some problems with (I think) WINS here and am hoping for some
pointers to tools that will help me track down what's going on.
Really, I'd like to be able to get a big dump of all of the names
registered on a WINS server. (The WINS server in question is a NT box to
which I don't have direct access. Ideally, I'd like to be able to see a
nmblookup-style dump showing

I'm getting the impression that I'm misunderstanding something about

define void @foo(i8* %a, i8* %b, i32 %c, i32 %d) {

I am new to R. Please forgive me if I am using the incorrect format to

I have a little problem with R-2.7.0 for Window. When I started the

Retrieving browser lists
I've searched the Samba docs, man pages, Using Samba, and a few other
places. I've been unable to find a way to retrieve the browse list (as in
Network Neighborhood or net view on Win32) from Samba. I'm using a RH 6.2
box running Samba 2.0.7 in a multi-subnet workgroup (which is really a
domain, but I don't have a machine trust account and I'm using security =
server). Samba is

nmblookup question
I'm running Samba 1.9.18p8. If I use nmblookup to query the name
of an NT server, as in
nmblookup -A <ip address>
then a packet trace shows an RPC reply coming back and nmblookup
displays a list of names belonging to the NT server. If
I try the same query on a Windows 95 machine, nmblookup only says
