Implementing Shares
Hi!
I am using RHL 5.2 and Samba 2.0.2. I have the SAMBA acting as the PDC
in the network where most of the clients are Win95. Earlier we had a
Novell Netware Network and I decided to shift over to Linux/Samba. I am
having trouble implementing certain shares. The exact problem is
described below:
I want ONLY 'nhs' and 'vhs' to have read only access to

samba-netlogon
Hello List,
I'm having a problem with a windows95 client under Samba server
1.9.17p4.
I've created a bat file, named user1.bat, user1 is the name of
the ordinary user in use, under the home directory:
/home/samba/netlogon. The matter is that when windows logs the
bat file is not loaded automatically. The commands inside of it
are very simple, as shown in the list below:

Samba Guest Account
Wow I'm sending my second cry for help before the first even gets a reply,
I'm starting to feel like a moron because I have no idea how I caused this
current hitch. Here's the story: I was trying to add an acct called
"administrator" to samba which has an enabled, good linux acct. I never did
get that acct working for some unknown reason, but what happened as a result

Interfaces for accessing SSL/TLS certificates
Hi everyone. Does anyone have any preferences or ideas for an interface for
SSL certificates, both client-side and server-side? At present, the only
interface is EventMachine::Connection#start_tls, which uses a built-in
self-signed cert on the server side. On the cilent side, it accepts any
well-formed cert (that is, it doesn''t check that the remote cert is signed
by a trusted authority).

CA issues...
OK...
I started seeing some issues with the certificates between my clients and
the puppetmaster. So I went ahead and removed puppet from the clients and
cleaned up /var/lib/puppet and /etc/puppet. Then I reinstalled puppet,
signed the new cert and things seemed to go OK after that.
Then the shocker the second run started to fail and i have this message:
[root@atlcnag0 ~]# puppetd --test

File Locking
Hi,
I'm running smbd 2.2.8. I'm a little green when it comes to file locking
with samba.
I have two users that access a single data file on a FreeBSD box. It's a
moneydance data file and obviously it gets messed-up if two users are
writing to it at the same time. Is there a way with samba to stop a second
instance of the file from being opened, something like a "File In

Most effective amount of memory
What is most effective amount of memory for a RedHat 6.0 box used as a file / print / mail server?
I have 128MB in a Celeron 400 box running file/print/mail services & Gnome.
It seems a little slow.
Not sure if it's the RAM, video ( cheapo 2MB Cirrus Logic card) &/or hard drive Quantum IDE 6GB hard drive.

problem with importing node definitions (2.7.14) [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Hi all,
Doing some work with a puppet 2.7.14 installation to see what''s new and needs to be changed, however i''m seeing unexpected behavior with my manifests, so my external node directory isn''t being imported. This is on a rhel 5 server with the puppet rpms from yum.puppetlabs.com, but the cilent machines is based on fc17 beta with 2.7.13 rpm (which is with that

Cannot Lock /etc/smbpasswd
Fellow Samba Users:
This is my first attempt at running Samba. I recently came into
possession of an older Sun Sparc 2 with a 4.6G drive, so I thought to
myself ... great! I can run RH 6.0 and Samba on it and use it as a file
server. Seemed like a good idea.
I installed Redhat, and went right to work configuring Samba. After a
few hours I noticed that there was a newer version of Samba than

Plots by subject
Hello! I need some help with creating plots for each study subject. I have
tried the 'for' command as described in 'An Introduction to R', but I wasn't
successful.
Here's what I want to do:
-Create and save the following overlayed scatterplots for each subject (1 to
n).
-The data frame is in the form of one line per visit per subject (so more than

Thank You!
Robert's suggestion indeed fixed the problem. I kept thinking
those entries were necessary in inetd.conf. Also, kind

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails.
What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content
managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ?
Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the
CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ?
If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced
so that the people who

[LLVMdev] Introducing julia, and gauging interest in a julia BOF session at the upcoming LLVM conference in London
Folks,
We are contemplating holding a Birds of a Feather session titled "Julia and LLVM: Implementing a fast dynamic language for technical computing" at the LLVM 2012 European Conference on April 12-13 in London.
http://llvm.org/devmtg/2012-04-12/
Would this be of interest to the LLVM developer and user community? It would be great if you could drop me a line. It will help us gauge
