OpenSSH + PADL pam_ldap.so + password aging
First, my config:
Solaris 8
PADL pam_ldap v165 and pam_nss v211
OpenSSH 3.7.1.p2
All compiled with gcc 2.95.3 that ships with the Sun companion CD
LDAP PAM authentication is working well with OpenSSH, privsep is disabled,
challenge-response authentication is enabled. I would like to turn on
password aging, which seems to be well supported by pam_ldap. Logins going
through /bin/login correctly

winbind on AIX
I'm trying to get Samba on AIX 5.1 to work in appliance-like mode. I would
like NT domain users to get automatically and persistently mapped to
AIX/Unix users. This stuff seemed to work fine without much effort on
Solaris 9, but AIX is a different story, and I'm new to AIX as well. AIX
5.1 doesn't use nss so winbind, in its current form, can't work. I saw a

Help with "Updating Gem Source Index"
After hearing so much about RoR over the last few months, I finally
decided to give it a try. I decided to follow the "Rolling with Ruby on
Rails" article on ONLamp.com to get up and running.
Unfortunately, since that fateful decision, I have run into nothing but
obstacles.
First, I downloaded and installed Ruby. That was my last success event.
Then, I typed "gem install

Streaming Speex over RTP
I am a brand new user of Speex, so forgive my naivety.
I am receiving an audio stream (PCM) which I need to encode in Speex, send it across a wire via RTP, and then decode and play the audio on the other side. I assume people have done this before, and I was wondering if anyone had any sample code of how they accomplished this. Or maybe just some good pointers or advice.
Thanks

Decoded data all 0s
I am encoding and decoding a stream of data. The data comes in in 320 byte packets, these are encoded and I get back 38 from the speex_bits_write method. I am under the impression that this means 38 bytes got written to my output buffer.
The data to this point looks fine, but when I put the data through the decoder all the bytes come out as 0.
So my first question is why is this happening, and

PermitRootLogin issues
Hello,
I'm currently experiencing the issue laid out in this thread from last year:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=106908815129641&w=2
The discussion that ensued resulted in a number of ideas on how best to
'fix' this issue. The two that seemed most reasonable were:
1. implement a pubkey-only option to PermitRootLogin that would only
allow root to login

Winbind/nsswitch issue on Solaris 9 (Sparc)
Hi all
I need to set up Samba on Solaris 9 (Sparc) as a Windows Domain Member.
I took the precompiled 64-bit Package
(samba-2.2.8a-1-sol8-suncc-64bit.pkg) from samba.org, which comes with
pam-winbind libraries, and it installed fine.
I ran a test before with Samba 2.2.8 on Solaris 8 (Intel), but there I
compiled myself with ./configure --with-winbind --with-pam --with-quotas

announce to caller in queues (asterisk for art!)
I have created a phone system for a rather unorthodox purpose. We are
making a 30 minute show that consists of callers calling in and giving
20-30 second reports from around their city. The calls are
automatically answered by FireFly from an asterisk queue and the sound
goes straight out to speakers.
What I would really love to be able to do is play a sound for the
caller only when

Samba on ICL's NX7 operating system
Hello,
Has anyone out there ever tried installing Samba on an ICL machine running the
NX7 operating system?
We have are going to attempt it, and I was wondering did anyone have any
pointers for us, either in the installation or the configuration.
Because the native compiler is limited on the ICL, we are going to install gcc
first, then compile Samba with it.
I would be very grateful for
