Anyone use PDQ with Samba for Printing
Hello, ** Please reply directly to ian@ichilton.co.uk ** Does anyone use PDQ for printing with Samba? If so, please could you tell me what options to use in smb.conf?? Mainly, what do I use for the printing option? Can I just use: printing = bsd print command = pdq -P%p %s; rm %s Or, can I not use PDQ, because there is no setting for it on the printing parameter??? Thanks! Bye for Now,

samba and firewalls
I have a little home network with one Windows 98 PC and a pc running linux. My idea is that as soon as DSL is finally made available to my area (which I keep getting told will be real soon now) I want to route it through the linux box and up to the Windows PC, using IP masquerading, etc. At present I have samba enabled on the unix box which opens up several worthwhile conveniences to me:

Win2K can't print to a Samba Printer?
Hello, ** Please CC replies to ian@ichilton.co.uk as I am not subscribed ** I have a Brother laser printer connected to a linux box running Samba. It is working fine from Win98 workstations, but now I have Win2K on my laptop, I am unable to print. This is because the linux box obviously doesn't have the win2k driver so I tried to install it as a local printer and then change it to a network

Echo on Zaptel FXO :(
Hi All, I've got an MD3200 modem which is working as a Zaptel FXO interface for Asterisk (X100P clone I believe). It seems to work, but on incoming or outgoing calls I can hear the other party ok but when I speak, I hear my voice echo back at me (quite quietly but it's distracting!) on everything I say. The other party doesn't seem to hear the echo - they just say I sound a bit quiet.

German Phrase
Hi German users, Can one of you guys give me a German Phrase that I can use to demonstrate tokenizing non-ascii text. Preferably something about 40 bytes long with lots of umlauts and perhaps a ?. Cheers, Dave

Searching for antilog function
Dear R-users, I have a basic question about how to determine the antilog of a variable. Say I have some number, x, which is a factor of 2 such that x = 2^y. I want to figure out what y is, i.e. I am looking for the antilog base 2 of x. I have found log2 in the Reference Manual. But I am struggling how to get the antilog of that. Any help will be appreciated! > version platform

Detect line is busy with Zap?
Hi, I have an FXO card connected to my phone line which works in Asterisk as Zap/1. Is there any way of detecting whether something else is on the line before picking up on this channel? For example, I dont want to pick up and dial out on the line if someone is on it using another phone (which is connected directly to the line, rather than through Asterisk). Also, when an incoming call comes

Anonymous printing and howto, dumb questions :-)
In samba howto collection it says : ... Don?t use it if you want to protect your passwords. Better share the printer in a way that does not require a password! Printing will only work if you have a working netbios name resolution up and running. How to set "anonymous shared printer" in Win 2000? even if I give permision to anyone, Win refuses to gives list. Credit Card machines / interop
Hi all, One of the areas I am trying to research before I can confidently start deploying Asterisk is "Credit Card Machines". (PDQ / Streamline machines / any similar) I'm talking about the credit card swipe boxes at point of sale desks. I believe they dial out to the specific bank provider everytime a card is swiped. My question is: - Does anyone have any experience using

R 'arima' discrepancies
Rob J Hyndman gives great explanation here (https://robjhyndman.com/hyndsight/estimation/) for reasons why results from R's arima may differ from other softwares. @iacobus, to cite one, 'Major discrepancies between R and Stata for ARIMA' (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22443395/major-discrepancies-between-r-and-stata-for-arima), assign the, sometimes, big diferences from R

When accessing the User Properties only SIDs are shown instead of real name
Hello Rowland, 1. We always have been using self compiled samba not the binaries. In fact, when we started we started on CentOS and then when CentOS became an upstream edition, we moved to RHEL, but continued with self compiled samba, never moved to prebuilt binaries. 2. SSSD - We are not using sssd anywhere. We have many Linux Servers but those are not members of AD domain. Only the web

Faxing with an IAXy
Hi, Has anyone got faxing working via an IAXy? I'm having trouble getting it working with a fax machine here. The IAXy works fine, I can make incoming/outgoing calls via it, however our PDQ takes a few redials to get data over to the dialled party, and faxing doesn't seem to work at all. I have turned off all the echo cancellation stuff, just in case that was an issue. Anything I

postscript()
I am using RedHat 6.1, the R1.1.0 binary download, and an HP Deskjet 692C. For some time I have been trying unsuccessfully to integrate R postscript graphics in LaTex. I consulted the Bug Tracking System. In the preamble of the LaTex file (test.tex) I have placed the line \usepackage{graphicx,color} and I use \begin{figure}[htbp] \begin{center} \includegraphics[height=4in]{graphic1.ps}

CUPS & client driver download
Hi everybody! I've got a problem with downloading printerdrivers from my win2k box. Successfully added printer with cupsaddsmb-tool (as root, after failing as printer admin!!?!?!). The W32X86 and WIN40 directories have been created as they should and also did the PPD files. But if I connect to the printer from Win (as printer admin) I get the message that no driver could be found. RPCclient
