Changing Domain name and NT trust relationships
Our department is changing its name which means that our Samba 3 domain name has to change accordingly. I have a trust relationship with a foreign Windows domain using "net join rpc" which (I believe) means that Windows is the trusted domain and Samba is the trusting domain. If I change the NetBIOS name, and use 'net setlocalsid' to set the SID of the new domain name to that of

Mac OS X + Samba + NT = Snag
After much nashing of teeth, I have compiled and installed Samba on Mac OS X! The following lines (or something like them) should probably be added to the config.guess file in the samba/source directory: Power*:Darwin:*:*) echo powerpc-apple-darwin${UNAME_RELEASE} exit 0 ;; I added them right after the "mac68k:OpenBSD:*:*)" section. I was not able to get the inetd installation

Access denied from NT
Hi, I have a problem in accessing samba server from NT network neighbourhood. I can see the samba server icon on neighbourhood. But while trying to access then it's asking for user name & passowrd. I am not using local user & password from unix box rather it should be authenticated from NT PDC and accordingly I have modified the smb.conf file. Here is the sample of that. 103 flara %

Samba trust NT Domain machine accounts!
Hi, Is it possible to get SAMBA to trust an NT Domain's machine account's but still authenticate the user from the local domain, i.e. the users account is on the SAMBA Domain but the machine he is loggin in from is on the NT Domain. Basically the SAMBA domain my trust the NT domain for resources. All I've found so far in the lists and faqs; is one way trusts where the NT domain

Joining NT domain]
So the samba domain should trust the NT4 domain. On a windows machine in the NT4 domain, did you use User Manager for Domains to add the samba domain as a trusting domain? It seems a little backwards to me, but the domain that wants to be trusted creates an account for the domain that will trust it. I would get the following error unless I did the NT4 side 1st: # net rpc trustdom

Proposal for string keys for address_space
Hello, We would like to propose a way for improving the diagnostics for address_space by being able to pass strings as an argument to it instead of just an integer. This was initially proposed before (http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/cfe-dev/2018-August/058702.html) but did not focus on it at the time. Reasoning: Clang's __attribute__((address_space(...))) feature uses an arbitrary integer as

SAMBA Workgroup/NT Domain question
Hi, I've configured SAMBA to be act asif it were a PDC for a network of UNIX and Windows 98 machines. The other UNIX machine also runs SAMBA, and has a machine trust account with the PDC, to act asif it is a domain member. The other machines are all Windows 98 PCs, which use the "PDC" SAMBA server as a logon server. The problem I have is with browsing. Because of the way SAMBA

[PATCH]: Change Cygwin contrib files to better support PrivSep
Hi, the following patch patches the files in contrib/cygwin. The changes are necessary to allow a better support of privilege separation. On NT machines the script asks now if it should create a user called "sshd" and all that. Additionally it creates the /etc/ssh_config and /etc/sshd_config files follows the latest versions. Would you mind to apply this to the official OpenSSH

[PATCH]: Cygwin: Changes to cygwin contrib area
Hi, the following patch changes two files in the contrib/cygwin subdir: It changes the Cygwin specific README file which adds some hints related to the new feature to switch user context without password (which means using public key and/or rhosts authentication). Some old stuff is erased. The changes to ssh-host-config are intended to allow an easier startup for users which are new to Cygwin

Samba4 trust between AD and NT domains
dear experts, is it possible to set a interdomain trust between an AD domain (samba-4.7.4) and an NT4 domain (samba-4.7.4 again)? My naive experiments have failed so far. If AD trusts NT: "samba-tool domains trust" cmd on AD controller seems to look for another AD domain: can't contact NT domain. Did I overlook some configuration switch? If NT trusts AD: I can not create a

Just follow this and it "just works" https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Authenticating_Freeradius_against_Active_Directory And this is asking for problems. workgroup = WSISIZ.EDU.PL Read : https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/34981.active-directory-best-practices-for-internal-domain-and-network-names.aspx And from this link :

Migration from NT Domain to AD
My company is in the process of migrating from an NT 4.0 Domain to a Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain. We have setup a pristine AD domain and have begun moving machines and users over to it. Part of this migration process is moving to a new domain name. We have several Samba servers that are currently members of the NT 4.0 domain. These Samba servers are running on a mix of both Linux and

NT + Samba (trusted domains) changing to AD + Samba
Hi all, I need to start looking into the problems/solutions of migrating from an NT4 Domain to Active Directory, where the NT Server is already in a 2-way trust with a Samba PDC. Hopefully, I'll have test NT, AD and Samba servers setup next week to start playing with, but in the mean time, I have some questions. 1 When a WinNT server gets migrated to Active directory, and that NT

NT domain clients behind isdn link
Hi, I've just set up a remote office, routed to our network via isdn. There are a handful of NT 4.0/sp3 clients and a single samba server. I had intended authentication to our PDC in the main office, all other services provided locally. If the link is 'up' this works fine, but if the link is down, the users cant login, because presumably the broadcast for a DC does not wake up the

Performance Samba 2.0.6 / FreeBSD 3.4 vs NT and NetWare
I'm getting samba setup, and it seems to be working. I have PDC/BackupPDC issues to resolve, and want to change things so the NT PDC authenticates users instead of setting them up using smbpasswd. Right now, I can access the samba box from Win98 and WinNT workstation with "manually setup" smbpasswd's. I have been testing performance and am a little disappointed, I hoped samba

Fail to join win2k to a NT domain where samba serves as a PDC
Dear sirs(madams): I've just configured samba 2.2.2 on FreeBSD 4.5 to server as a windows NT PDC. The domain once worked well after configuration. But today, I suddently encountered with certain trouble, that I can't join any clients to the domain any more. Even those I've joined to the domain sucessfully other days can't be joined to the domain either after I removed them
