Compiling smbpass.c
Hello All,
I've been trying to compile samba-1.9.18p4 for the last couple of hours
and seem to keep running into problems compiling smbpasswd. I'm running
Slackware 3.4
Here's last section I tried to use from the Makefile:
# Use this for Linux with shadow passwords - but not using PAM!
# contributed by Andrew.Tridgell@anu.edu.au
# add -DLINUX_BIGCRYPT is you have shadow passwords

Compiling 1.9.18p10 or p8 on SCO OSR5.0.4
Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I am having when compiling samba. When
I issue the "make" command the compilation of the binaries aborts with the following message.
"replace.c", line 195: error: identifier redeclared: initgroups

If I comment out the section of code in "replace.c" that declares initgroups and

Errors encountered with 1.9.18p10 Makefile
To whom it may concern:
here are the diffs which I required to make the mentioned Makefile work.
I maintain several platforms of samba servers, and thus use the VPATH
option in the Makefile. I've been fixing installscripts.sh as well,
so that `make install` works when run from my build directory.
I'm assuming SAMBA v2.x will migrate to autoconf/configure and should
fix these issues, but

Compile problems in Slackware
Hi there.
Has anyone experienced problems when compiling Samba? I always get stuck
with an "internal compiler error" at the file smbpass.o.
The system is Slackware 3.4.0 (still the current release), with
kernel 2.0.33 and GCC 2.7.2.3, I checked it with Samba 1.9.18p8 and 1.9.18p7.
How to get the error:
Install Slackware 3.4.0
Extract samba-1.9.18p8.tar.gz

Installing R on Solaris
Hi,
I've been trying to install R on Solaris, I've been following the
instruction for configuring & compiling R (I have gcc and f77
installed)- but I get Error messages. I'd appreciate it if you could
look at the output, (pasted below) and give me some advice on what to
do. I've attached the R install 'readme'.
Thanks, a quick reply would be greatly appreciated,

NT - Not allowed from this workstation
I am the sysadmin in an office with an overabundance of Win95 machines and
a few NT 4.0 workstations. All installs went relatively easy for logon
scripts, wins, etc. I have run into a semi-serious problem with 2 of the
3 NT workstations. (All running the same service pack - 1).
When trying to make a share from one of the 2 remaining workstations, I
will recevie an error message saying that:

Compilation problem on OSF/1
PArdon the "newbie" nature of this question, but I *am* a samba newbie
I'm trying to compile samba-1.9.18p6 on a DEC Alpha running OSF/1 V3.0 (I
know it's old, but I'm stuck with it).
I've modified the Makefile as follows...

problem I would appreciate suggestions. Following is output from make at the
point of failure.

Help Me Beat NT--Red Hat Performance Help Needed
I have tried all I can think of to resolve a samba performance
problem. Below is a description of the problem. The Red Hat
server is actually a higher performance machine than the NT
machine, though they are close in capabilities:
