Can't access Samba server from Windows NT
Samba Masters: I have a couple of Windows NT machines (server and workstation) that are having difficulty accessing a Samba server (1.9.17p4). When I try to connect from the NT box to the Samba server I get the error message "Account unauthorized to login from this station." The NT machines are not configured to participate in a Windows NT domain (although I tried that to see if it

Strange file Behavior
Samba Masters: I recently upgraded all of our Samba servers to 2.0.6. Previously, we had several versions running all the way from 1.9.15p8 up to the current release. Since the upgrade, there has been a strange problem reading text files on one of the shares. Here's the situation. The server is a Sun box with Solaris 2.5.1. A program that runs on this machine writes a text file into a

[SOLVED] Win NT 4.0 SP4 access to Samba 1.9.16p9
Hello folks - back on April 2nd I asked why my NT 4.0 with SP4 computer wouldn't connect to my old copy of Samba (1.9.16p9), while my neighbour's NT 4.0 with SP3 computer did just fine. This was in the case of a read-write share that only myself and my neighbour had access to under our user names. A read-only share worked just fine on both our computers. Thanks to Herb Lewis & Jan

Are there plans to expand the logging capabilities in OpenSSH, so that the details of what files were moved using sftp is included? If not, does anyone know of a good way to capture this information? Samba 2.0.3 and NT/9x
Dear all, I recently upgraded to Samba 2.0.3 and read the doc files about NT machines because I cannot connect to the Samba server. In the WinNT.txt file there is the following proposal: [ --- Start of pasted text --- ] The following registry entry change will re-enable clear text password handling: Run regedt32.exe and locate the hive key entry:

Not authorized to login from this station
Hi, Can any point me in the right direction to solve this one? I get a: "this account is not authorized to login from this station" message when I try to "Map Network Drive" from NT4server SP4 to my RH Linux 6.0 Samba 2.0.3, yet I can open a telnet session from the NT machine to Linux using this user, and, in a linux xterm window I can list the samba services using

Response to query re: calculating intraclass correlations
Karl, If you use one of the specialized packages to calculate your ICC, make sure that you know what you're getting. (I haven't checked the packages out myself, so I don't know either.) You might want to read David Futrell's article in the May 1995 issue of Quality Progress where he describes six different ways to calculate ICCs from the same data set, all with different

"not authorized to login" and libpam-mysql
Hi all, I get the error message "not authorized to login from this station". This is not fixed as suggested in past posts (encrypt = no, NT4_plainpassword.reg). I have libpam-mysql installed. And it never even gets called for authentication from the NT machine! If I connect from the local PC with smbclient //server/share password -U user I get the following in syslog (I turned on

Windows NT 4.0 SP3
I have Samba 1.9.17p2 and it works great on NT4.0 SP2 When I update to NT4.0SP3, my Samba connection gives me the following message: The account is not authorized to login from this station. Did something change? Maybe NT4.0 SP3 uses a smb.conf option that wasn't used before? I've installed the package version from the Solaris 2.5 web site. I'm actually running Solaris 2.5.1

run prog to create policy? + our setup
Hi Is it possible to give users a different policy? If it's not possible by default, can I do it with preexec? Wasn't there an option to let a file contain the output of a program, and each time it is read, the output is piped instead of contents of a file? Because I think that would be safer, than a preexec that replaces my policy file, because when other users log in at exactly the same

Problem with Samba: "The account is not authorized to login from this station"
I am having a problem configuring Samba to work with my NT mahcines. I can see the linux server from my NT machines. Under security=user, when I attempt to browse the linux machine's shares, it asks for a username and password, and then fails, telling me "The account is not authorized to login from this station." If I set security = share, I can browse the shares, but when I try and

browser problem
The browsing capability in Network Neighborhood disppears periodically. Usually, double-clicking on Network Neighborhood gives us a list of all the NT and Unix/samba boxes on the network segment (i.e. in the Workgroup). When browsing disppears, all we see is *Entire Network*, which has nothing in it. We run a unix/NT network with 6 unix servers and about 80 NT clients. We are running NT
