Your problem is that you didn't compile 1.9.17p2 to support encrypted
passwords, and NT SP3 requires encrypted passwords by default.
Upgrade Samba to 1.9.18p4 (which support encrypted passwords "out of the
box"), or modify your registry to allow plaintext passwords. See
docs/NT4_PlainPassword.reg for details.
