Multiple usernames and strange log
Hi guys,
I would like you to help me with two problems we have
here with samba.
It works fine on almost all the situations but we're
unable to connect from a win95 machine with two identities
simultaneously.
The situation is that: john and eric have their own account
in the server (Unix running samba). They share another
account (say netmen). They need access to

Unable to browse
I have two problems running Samba on Solaris 2.51, Samba version 1.9.16p11. 1) When browsing the CADCAM group, which is where the Sun group is, the CADCAM name shows up on Explorer, but when I click on the group to browse the contents, the '+' disapears and the group apears to be empty. We can, however, map drives using \\sun01\sharname' directly.
2) When we dial into the network

File name in the print command
Hi,
I just want to ask you if someone have had this problem,
if this is a bug, a "feature" or the expected behavior.
We use Samba 1.9.18p10 on slackware linux as a print server.
This print server is dedicated to students so we print a
banner with every print job in order to be able to distinguish
the beginning and ending of a students job.
The problem appears when we

NT Crashes when doing large network file Xfers (was Re: NT crashes during smbtar)
Ernie,
Thanks for the great info.. Based on what you were seeing, would
you suspect that part of the problem is with the combination of NT
and the 3com card (3c595)? Currently, we are ONLY seeing this
under NT Workstation (not server) and almost all of our machines
have this same 3com 3c595 card (only if using 100BaseT)..

Rails double submit -> double post -> duplicate data
Hi,
We are encountering occasions where users post twice or more a
form, basically we have detected two situations:
a) The user push twice enter
b) The user push double click on button "save" or "submit"
We consider that this becomes a problem when creating (because we
duplicate data) and we think that in some context it could become a
security issue

In which column and in which row a number is in a matrix
Dear all, Happy New Year for all of you! I hope we have an year of
essential freedom for everyone!
I am trying to manipulate a matrix in order to know in which column
and in which row a number is allocated. But, when we use the function
"which" it returns the position of the number in the "vector
representation of the matrix". For example:

smbpasswd fails with unix password sync enabled
Hello again,
I would like to thank Giant Wang and Miquel Bonastre for their responses
to my query in "Samba Digest 1734" regarding simultaneous passwd changing for
users via Samba. Their comments were helpful, but have not solved the
problem.
For those who do not have a back log of the Digests, the problem is that
with unix password sync=yes, users are not able to change their own

Large loops in R
Dear all,
I need to access data from a large matrix (48000 x 48000) and to do it
I am trying to run two loops using "for" command. Surely it is been a
very slow job.
I heard that "for" is not the best option to perform large loops in R,
but I don't really know what would be the best (fast) option. sapply?
vapply? Could anyone help me with this issue, please?
Thank you

Children, HasChildren
Hello,
I'm using dovecot 0.99.10.2 on a debian box. Mailstore is maildir.
If I list the IMAP hierarchy in mutt (debian, 1.5.4+20031024-1) it shows
all my plain mailboxes as having subfolders - while none of them have.
I straced mutt and this is the IMAP exchange (a bit reformatted
for readability):
write(6, "a0001 LSUB \"\" \"%\"\r\n", 19) = 19

Migration from Ldap to Samba+Ldap
Hello,
I'm trying to migrate openldap users to a samba+ldap solution.
I had set up the samba+ldap server succesfully, and restored my accounts
via smbldap-populate and an ldif file.
But all my LDAP accounts didn't got all the samba field and i'm forced
to update it manually via smbldap-usermod -a %user and smbldap -u %user
( and typing a new password ).
So my question is :

Hi,
Could someone please post an example of a /etc/init.d/dovecot startup
script? (We use fedora core 5, if that makes any difference.)
Ours seems to be missing.
Cheers,
