Linux passwd authentication through NT
Hello,
I would like to authenticate Linux' logins by asking a local NT server
whether the supplied login id and the corresponding password match.
Is there a way to do this ?
I.e. is there a PAM module or any other utility that would allow me to
do this from a script ? (i.e. a script like
$ correct_NT_passwd _supplied_username_ _supplied_passwd_
that would return 0 if they match

win95 file "shared drive" doesn't always show all files.
Hello,
I have a slow (386DX40/16RAM) computer running win95. I have selected
the C and D drive to be shareable.
When I smbmount the drive, I can cd into it and access it, all is fine.
But most of the time, doing ``ls'' in a directory with large number of
entries it only shows (out of 100 entries) only about 25. I can cd into a
subdir even though it is not listed, but e.g. ``find

Recoginizng which boot agent was used
Hi,
Is there a way for init=/linuxrc to know which package (syslinux,
pxelinux, ...) was used for booting? What would be a reliable way to
detect if we booted via net or from a hdd/cdrom? Is there a variable
which gets initialized with the boot device?
Thanks,
George

ogg123 - remote control interface
Halo vorbis devel team, I have a question concerning remote control
interface in ogg123. I have searched this forum and Internet and found
that in 2002 there was a patch made adding remote control interface to
ogg123. My question is, if this will be included in the main trunk some
day? Because this way whenever I upgrade ogg123 I have to adjust the
patch and then patch it....
Thanks for answers

XP doesn't logoff from samba domain
PDC: Samba 2.2.8a on linux 2.4.20 + XFS + ACL, rather normal configuration.
Client: Win XP Pro
When user logon to Domain, I can see him (smbstatus, utmpx). But when he
logoff, the record is still there. It disappears when I reboot the XP.
According to M$ knowledge-base the problem is that samba doesn't handle
the logoff correctly.
Do you have any solution of this?

Ext3 behavior on power failure
Hi all,
We are building a new system which is going to use ext3 FS. We would like to know more about the behavior of ext3 in the case of failure. But before I procede, I would like to share more information about our future system.
* Our application always does an fsync on files
* When symbolic links (more specifically fast symlink) are created, the host directory is also fsync'ed.

Win2k domain, ACLs and permissions
Hi there,
I have been trying to set up Samba 2.2.8 to connect to our Windows 2000
domain, and provide shares that support file permissions as a Win2K box
would, under Red Hat 8.0. To that end I recompiled the kernel (2.4.20)
with patches from acl.bestbits.org, enabling ext2 and ext3 EA and ACL
support. I set up winbind, joined the domain OK, and got name resolution
working pretty well. Everything

ext3 involved in kernel panic in 2.6.13?

which, in turn, are atop LVM logical volumes. The underlying device
is hardware SCSI RAID via a LSILogic HBA. The kernel is vanilla

A panic occurred, which contains references to ext3 code.
I'm not sure how others manage to get these typed out, but I'm

Is there a need to define dax_synchronous() for !CONFIG_DAX? Because that
property of dax device is pretty much
