[LLVMdev] How to add a new target/toolchain to Clang ?
Thanks Tom for your help, it as indeed very easy to make the link with the linker (not sick joke). Unfortunately, clang generates object files for target x86_64, even though I try --target --triple, --arch, ... What is the trick to tell him which target to use ? -- Fred ps: not looked yet at inline assembly 2015-07-09 18:40 GMT+02:00 Tom Stellard <tom at stellard.net>: > On Thu, Jul

Extra form feed on Samba printing
I am using samba to share my RedHat V5.0 printers to my MS Network clients, but I get an extra blank page at the end of each print job. I've looked at the printcap man pages, but haven't been successful in getting rid of the trailing blank page. Here's the printcap section for the printer I've been having problems with: # /etc/printcap parallel:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp2:\

print from UNIX to Win95
Hi Can I print PostScript files or imagine Files from UNIX (soliaris 2.5) to a Win95 printer (HP 6P/6PM) ? Now I can only print plain text files using the script included in samba (smbprint). If it is possible how can I configue samba(1.9.17p3) ? Thank you ! Sincerely; Dong Weihua weihuad@matpr.kth

Blank trailing pages when printing
I've just set up samba as a print server, and it works beautifully, with one exception: after every job, the printer (an HP LaserJet) prints an extra (blank) page. Is this a known problem, and if so, what can I do to fix it? Many thanks, J.

Accessing a Samba server over the Internet
Hi, I want to connect to Samba volumes on a SCO Open Server 5 over the Internet from my NT 4 workstation. My workstation is in a local domain and gets a dynamic IP address when it connects to my ISP; the Internet hostname is also dynamic and can't be predicted. I can determine my ISP's B class subnet which I have put into the smb.conf file in the 'hosts allow' entry. However,

[LLVMdev] How to add a new target/toolchain to Clang ?
Hi all, I have been developping a out-of-tree backend. I would like to integrate it with clang. Note that my backend is rather simple, generates elf32, and I do not need about linux, libary paths, ... Can someone give me a pointer to a readme, an article, or maybe a good (i.e. simple) example ? Note :on a second step, I would like to support inline assembly in C code.. -- Frederic Heitzmann

[LLVMdev] Why change "sub x, 5" to "add x, -5" ?
Dear all, I have been working on a new LLVM backend. Some instructions, like sub, can take an positive constante, encoded into 5 bits thus lower than 32, and a register, as operands. Unfortunately, DAGCombiner.cpp changes patterns like 'sub x, 5' into 'add x,-5'. Similarly, I found changes in some IR to IR passes, with no clear gain (at least not clear to me), and even penalty

Shadow and OpenLinux
Hi all: I'm running Caldera OpenLinux with kernel 2.0.29, shadow password and quotas. The shadow kit is 980403 and is working fine. Well, when I try to compile I got this output : ------------------------- Begin Compile output ------------------------ Using CFLAGS = -O -DSMBLOGFILE="/usr/local/samba/var/log.smb" -DNMBLOGFILE="/usr /local/samba/var/log.nmb"

Letter case not preserved
All files transferred to my Samba server end up with lower case on the Unix box. Case is not preserved from NT to Unix. For example, if I copy C:\Temp\MyFile to a directory on the Samba server, it ends up there as myfile. What am I missing? I browsed the FAQ's in the web pages, without success... Why LR is saved before calling a 'noreturn' function ?
Dear all, I don't get how llvm handles functions with __attribute__((noreturn)). It seems that LR register is backed up on the stack whilst it will never be used to return from a 'noreturn' function. I have this problem with a home-made backend but it seems that ARM flavour of clang has same behaviour. By the way, SP is also saved, I don't understand why. Is there a syntax error

[LLVMdev] Hwo to guess PC-relative offset
Dear LLVM crew, I have been writing a new LLVM backend with a very simple instruction set. moving a constant value to a register is selected as a load of the constant, with a PC-relative positive offset. Thus, the constant should be stored in .text section, after the load instruction, and offset should be computed at compile time (not link time). I struggle to find out : - how llvm handle

XFS vs. ext3
(Sorry for cross-posting; I'm not on either ext3-users or linux-xfs, but I thought both lists might find this interesting. CC me with any replies or questions. Thanks.) (The last four paragraphs contain the interesting bits. Basically, XFS hath kick-ed the *ss of ext3 under conditions that are, for our company, critical.) Some listees might be interested in some testing I did the other

AW: Samba across subnets?
If you don't want to type the ip adress of your samba server every time you connect, add a entry to your local hosts file and lmhosts file. You will find this files (and sample files with extension ".sam") in the windows main directory of Win95 and under "system32/drivers/etc" on WinNT 4.0. AW: How to print to CLIENT local printer?
You must create a output filter. Edit /etc/printcap and add your client printer like this: ... PC-PRINTER:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/PP01:\ :mx#0:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :if=/var/spool/lpd/Filter/PP01:\ :sh: ... Adjust the printcap parameters as needed (spool directory, directory to find the filter script). Make sure the lpd can access the directory. Consult your manual. Now create the filter
