password server problem
We are using samba with a NT4.0 Primary Domain Controller as a samba password server. Logon validation on the primary domain controller works fine, the NT machine validates the user password. BUT: On the NT PDC the event log shows numerous entries saying: Unknown user or wrong password Did anybody experience this too ???? Rainer von Bongartz /D/I/L/ rainer.von-bongartz@dil.de

oplcok_break more information (PR#12734)
Hi! After more work on the oplock_break problem, I've found the following in my tcpdump-smb logging. It seems that when ost5 (pid=26339 in the logs that follow) requests access to the oplocked file comm.inf from ost6 (pid=5872) the oplock_break failes (this is NOT isolated to any one or two systems on our network, just using these two as an example, and the server reports no dropped packets

Point pattern to grid
Dear all, I'd like to change a point pattern to a grid of cells and use one of the variables as the output. e.g. The point pattern is of a window of (500*500) and several features such as pH, SoilType etc. I like to divide it into a grid with cell size 5*5, and use the mean of the point values falling inside the cell as the output. Is there any package in R working with this? Thanks in

Cannot change password
Server: Slakware Linux 2.0.30, GNU C 2.7.2.1 Samba 18p7 Server is not using PAM and is a ypclient. Client PC's are DOS 6.20 with MS Client 3.0 and Windows 95. I am having trouble changing passwords using the "net password \\<server>" command from either DOS or Win95 command prompt. Changing passwords worked fine using Samba 17p3. The compile switch -DALLOW_CHANGE_PASSWORD

Fudging domain support - samba 2.2.0
Hi; There is likely a supported way around this problem, but it wasn't immediately apparent to me. So, I created the enclosed patch to fix my problem. What I would like to do is the following: - run samba in "security = domain" - not use trusted domains, but allow people to connect from other domains - not maintain a local encrypted password file for samba, but instead use our

TEST 3 If you get a "connection refused" response then the smbd server may not be running. If you installed it in inetd.conf then you probably edited that file incorrectly. If you installed it as a daemon then check that it is running, and check that the netbios-ssn port is in a LISTEN state using "netstat -a". Note: You have xinetd not inetd on the redhat box. Looking for MSDOS driver to map to samba
Running samba 1.9.16p11 on Digital Unix 3.2c. We currently access unix shares from W95 without problems but now since we had our network overhauled, 2 MSDOS harddriveless PC's need to be able to access the unix system for it's hard drive. They have Intel Express cards . How do I setup the MSDOS computer to map a drive to SAMBA. One question is these computers do not have IP addresses, how

Browsing via dial-in
I'm running Samba 18p7, with pppd & smb_pam to let me use NT passwords for my Unix dial-in accounts. Login goes fine, internet IP stuff works fine (like e-mail & Web), I can mount shares by name, but Windows Explorer browsing comes and goes. Even when it's working, browsing only starts up about 20 seconds or so after logon - before that I get "unable to browse network"
