join domain without root
Dear Samba gurus,
I am still using Samba 2.2.8a; I have not seen an announcement that this
issue would be fixed in 3.0.2; all that follows refers to 2.2.8a.

FreeBSD, Libmd5, samba 4.9.4 & "smbclient -L" (using password) -> core dump
I just noticed that smbclient from Samba 4.9.4 /built by myself) on FreeBSD 11.2 coredumps when called like this:
smbclient -L <hostname>

[Fwd: Joining AD - wrong DNS name, wrong keytab]
Hello,
I noticed within last Centos7 samba (4.10) issues with joining
computers to AD. Which was no problem in previous versions (and is
working with samba present in Ubuntu 16.04 - 4.3)
I'm joining my clients to Active directory for example domain.org, with
DNS subdomain base.domain.org
The issue is that the client is joined and keytab generated for FQDN:

[PATCH] NTLM fixes
Hello,
attached patch contains small NTLM fixes:
- open code ntlmssp_des_encrypt_triad() function;
- add two missing safe_memset(). It's not safe to leave NTLM
hashes on the stack, because they are plain password equivalents.
Please consider applying.
Best regards.

Troubles with NT domain logons ?
Dear Sirs !
I succesfully setup samba 1.9.18p3 to work
with domain logons of win95. Works perfectly.
Also I tryed to compile samba with -DNTDOMAIN and
configure NT to with domain logons.
If samba compiled with-NTDOMAIN,
NT can't work with samba in any way -
w/ domain logons and w/o.
Below log file that created by samba,
when I tryed to setup NT to domain logon to samba.

SAMBA-NTDOM
Hi
I'm becoming a bit confused. I have been trying out the Samba PDC code
from BRANCH_NTDOM on Solaris 2.5.1 (with great success !). I now want
to download the latest version and messages on the samba-ntdom list say
to download from the main branch. What exactly do I put in my cvs
command ? The NTDOM FAQ says
'cvs -d :pserver:cvs@samba.anu.edu.au:/cvsroot co samba '.

see ipc.c:

cvs and smbdes.c
Hi,
I'm trying to use the samba cvs service to keep up with the NT Domain
Stuff, my problem is that the smbdes.c that I receive is mangled (looks
like the diffs has lost sync somehow, since some lines are duplicated, and
others have mismatched parenthesises). Here is the diff I get between the
current cvs version and alpha12.

NT - Not allowed from this workstation
I am the sysadmin in an office with an overabundance of Win95 machines and
a few NT 4.0 workstations. All installs went relatively easy for logon
scripts, wins, etc. I have run into a semi-serious problem with 2 of the
3 NT workstations. (All running the same service pack - 1).
When trying to make a share from one of the 2 remaining workstations, I
will recevie an error message saying that:

Oplock errors in 2.2.8a
Hi,
We are having connection timeout issues in Excel and Word. Was this an
issue that was resolved in post 3.0 versions? We are running 2.2.8a.
Below is the samba log file and I have attached a netmon output.
Thanks,
Domenic

Samba computer account in NT domain?
Hi!
I'm trying to set up a linux (RH5.0) samba server in our Windows NT
network. In the smb.conf file there are: security=server and the TCP/IP
number of our WINNS server. How can I create a computer account in the
NT domain? Is there any way to specify a user with the ability to add
the linux-samba-server in the NT domain in the smb.conf file?
Thanks a lot, Jukka Matinvesi

nmbd crashing as domain controller
Hi,
We've been over this before many times, I think... it's about nmbd
crashing in 1.9.17 (all patchlevels, AFAIK).
Various suggestions have been suggested (cron jobs to kill off / restart
nmbd every hour) but no fixes to nmbd itself (I think).
Do the Samba team know of a fix (or could they do one; if they know what
the problem is)? A new [fast] machine added to our network recently

Can't join SAMBA-Domain
Hi,
I have set up samba 1.9.18p2 on a BSDI 3.0. As I tried to join the
samba-server with a NT 4.0 Workstation (sp3,german) I got an error message
indicating that my workstation has no account on the samba-server. Further
tries doing the same thing only showed an error message that the Domain-Server
for the domain I want to connect to cannot be found.

Logon script
Hello,
I am having a little problem with executing logon scripts on Win95 clients,
logging into Samba Netlogon service.
When a user logges in, a MS-DOS prompt shows up and quicky disappears. Then
I get
"Please Wait While your logon script executes". It hangs at that point. A
user has to hit cancel to start his win95 session.
I have done the logon script in MS-DOS editor. I have the

ACl issue with 3.014
Hi,
We had Samba v 3.011 installed on Solaris 2.8. We upgraded to v3.014
and ran into the ACL issue where users can edit their files from Windows
XP, but cannot delete or rename them.
Is there a new parameter for this, or is it a known bug? If it is a
bug, does 3.014a fix it?
Thanks,

anonymous CVS access to Samba sources
Those of you wishing to follow the Samba source code closely can now
get direct read-only access to the Samba source code repository. This
means you can see every piece of code we commit to the tree the minute
we commit it.
I haven't provided this type of access up to now as I couldn't work
out how to make it totally safe, so that a malicious user can't gain
write access. I've now

Runaway processes on Solaris
Hi Jerry and crew,
Our solaris 2.8 machine running Samba 2.2.8a ran out of swap. The Sun
engineer sent us the following which seemed to point to Samba. Have you
seen something like this before?
Thanks,
