Auto connecting to samba public service...
Hi,
I'm having problems with WinNT Workstation 4.0 with SP2 that keep
reconnecting to a
public service \\aix\server1 on an Aix 3.2.5 running Samba 1.9.16p11.
I connect X as \\aix\server1 on logon but after a while the WinNT4.0
box connects the next free
letter i.e. G: to this service. A few minutes later H: is connected and
so on until all available letters are used. Why is this?

Dave connecting to samba 17p4 trouble..
Hi,
using Dave 2.0b3 under MacOS 8.0 with success. I got one minor problem.
I can't consistently logon before I have mounted a samba share. Any
solutions to this?
Also, I need some advice on how to print to samba printers.
Thanks for a great free product!

Samba 1.9.16p11
Hi,
The Samba 1.9.16p11 is installed on Solaris 2.7 and works well with win95/98. The folders of Solaris can be mapped as a remote drive on a win95.
However, when win95 is replaced by winNT4.0 the same Samba no longer works. It displays following message when I try to map a solaris folder to a win drive. "The account is not authorizeded to login from this station". I try to add a

Name Resolution Order Question (1.9.16p11)
I know this is an older version, but we're currently working on a project
that has encountered some broadcast storms and fingers have begun to point
to samba. I don't believe this is the case, but I find my knowledge of the
resolution mechanism for nmbd to be sorely lacking. I know later versions
than ours (1.9.16p11) included a "name resolution" parameter in smb.conf,
but I

SUMMARY: Amanda 2.3.0.5-Samba 1.9.16p11 PC backups...
My whole problem as far as samba was concerned was not compiling with DES
support *and* that I did compile with FAST_SHARE_MODES. One clue was this
in the samba.log. file. I then did a dejanews search for smb_shm_open and
came up with that portion of the solution.
ERROR smb_shm_open : mmap failed with code 11
The DES portion came from just reading the WinNT.txt file that came with
Samba.

Passwords fail from Win95 but not from DOS (Samba 1.9.16p11/NetBSD)
Hi,
I'm having some problems with Samba 1.9.16p11 on a Sun3/60 running
NetBSD 1.2. I have a Win95 client and a couple of DOS clients on a
single ethernet segment (it's at home :-).
I've set up a simple configuration, intention was just to serve files
from the Sun to the PC's. Everything works perfectly except
authentication from the Win95 client. I can connect to the Samba

1.9.16p11 and Windows 95 app conflicts
We installed Samba 1.9.16p11 on our Solaris 2.5 Sparc server here and we
are
having some difficulty getting Windows 95 programs to access the Samba
shares.
Many of the programs work, and we are dedicated to using Samba, and we have
a lot
of stuff out there, and we are using it effectively. But we have a few
problems with a
few programs.
One of the possible solutions to this problem is to upgrade

Amanda 2.3.0.5-Samba 1.9.16p11 PC backups...
At the bottom is what I got returned from AMANDA 2.3.0.5 after patching
Samba 1.9.16p11 to give estimates. Any idea what I might not have done yet?
My disklist reads:
shokk \\thor\depot nocomp-user-gnutar
To connect successfully to that server with smbclient, I have to do this,
giving the same password that I now have in /etc/amandapass:
smbclient \\\\THOR\\DEPOT -U BACKUP

hi all
when starting kphone, it tries to register with asterisk but fails after a
while. The SIP entry in * for this user is below. This is identical to the

these work fine. See SIP debug output attached as 'screen-exchange'

Abbreviated citation of R?
Dear R users,
This is more a suggestion than a question.
Short version: A possibility for a short, 'inline', way to cite R in an article,
comparable to e. g. 'SPSS Inc., Chicago, USA' or 'Stata Corporation, College
Station, Texas, USA', without a corresponding item in the list of references,
might be an advantage in some cases.
Long version: Increasingly, it seems,

Dear R users
I use Windows XP, R2.5.1 (I have read the posting guide, I have
contacted the package maintainer first, it is not homework).

Recover from Solaris crash
Hi,
I am running solaris 10 on ufs and the rest on ZFS. Now has the solaris disk crashed.
How can I recover the other ZFS disks?
Can I reinstall solaris and recreate the zfs systems without data loss?

KVM guests failed to start after 6.2 upgrade
I tore my hair out for a while after rebooting into 6.2 because none of the VM guests would start. After trying lots of things, like down grading qemu-kvm (which fixed it when I upgraded via the CR repository and didn't this time), cloning a VM, and even beginning to create new VM to restore from backup.
Luckily I discovered that there is a log for each VM and found in each case it failed

Analog POTS line -> Rhino FXO Channel Bank -> No Hangup
Hello list,
I have recently deployed Asterisk as the phone system for my office. So far, everything has been going really well, except for one little thorn in my side. I have a set of 6 analog lines that are connected to a TE411P via a Rhino FXO Channel bank. If I call the analog number, Asterisk answers the call, and routes it appropriately. The problem is, when I hangup, Asterisk never

Anyone have LibreSSL working on CentOS 6.5?
Hi folks,
I searched the list for LibreSSL and found only one mention of it!
Has anyone gotten this working? I have it compiling no problem, but
removing OpenSSL is another story of course. It seems to be compiled
with FIPS support and of course there is no such thing in LibreSSL -
that is something they tore out
thanks,

Testing difference between two partial correlations
Dear list members,
Perhaps more a methodological than a strictly R question (but I have
searched for solutions in R Site Search, R FAQ..., and I intend to
implement the solutions in R. Answers containing references to
existing R code are of course highly appreciated).
What test(s) should be used for testing for differences between two
partial (Pearson) coefficients, from independent samples,

volume start causes glusterd to core dump in 3.5.0
I just built a pair of AWS Red Hat 6.5 instances to create a gluster replicated pair file system. I can install everything, peer probe, and create the volume, but as soon as I try to start the volume, glusterd dumps core.
