Samba 2.0.3 and NT/9x
Dear all,
I recently upgraded to Samba 2.0.3 and read the doc files about NT
machines because I cannot connect to the Samba server.
In the WinNT.txt file there is the following proposal:

The following registry entry change will re-enable clear text password

Problems with installation
Hi,
I am new with Samba, so excuse my primitive questions.
I just started installing Samba on an SGI origin unsing IRIX 6.4. with
windows NT workstations.
I was following the UNIX_INSTALL.txt file and I got blocked and step 4
where I should test my "smb.conf" file with the executable "testparm".
After I installed Samba by first doing make, then make install... I took

Mounting of NT Shares on SunOS
Hi There
Do anyone know about the posibility to mount an NT share into SunOS (SunOS
and Solaris 2.x) operating system.
I know there is a solution for Linux(smbmount, smbunmount), but this does
not work on SunOS because smbfs is not supported. Is there a known port of
the software on SunOS...?
I have looked into using a piece of software called rumba(software to mount
NT shares via smb to nfs)

Mounting NT File System from a IRIX machine.
Hello Everybody !
We have a LAN network consisting mostly of Win NT machines, with a couple
of Win 95 boxes and a IRIX-based Samba server.
Is there a way that i can mount the file system of a NT box onto my IRIX box
? Can i write directly to a
NT box from IRIX box ? Do i require NFS for that ?
Thanks in advance !

problem creating trusts between NT4 and samba
Hi,
I recently installed Samba 3.0.11 on Suse 9.2 and have managed to get a
simple domain working (people can logon, share printers etc), however,
I'm having trouble setting up trusts between the new samba domain and
the old NT domain.
I'm following this help:

Selecting files to get...
Hello everybody,
I'm using Samba Version 1.9.17p3 on an IRIX 6.2-based workstation and
because I still have the same problem with the shares on the PC-box
(I'll send my report to samba-bugs too), I need workaround in order to
get the smbtar process running.
Here's my problem (I hope it's not too long):
I can see what's being shared by the Win95 box where I want to make the

username maps and security=ads
I have been having problems with username maps and security=ads.
I now have a solution (or at least a work around) that is working
for me. I sort of stumbled across it, as I don't recall reading
any samba docs that mentions the need to have the realm name
in the smbuser file.
Samba server is RHEL3 with samba-3.0.20 compiled from source
authenticating against a windows ADS.

rookie - mount nt share from Solaris 2.6?
I believe I know the answer, but I'd like to be
certain, since I keep seeing references to things like
smbmount and smbfs...
Is it possible to mount an NT (4.0sp3) share onto a
Solaris 2.6/Sparc? I just grabbed Samba 2.0.6.
I suspect not (I don't see any smbmount or smbfs in my samba/bin
directory).
Will this ever be a possibility? If so, when?
And, are there any other options for

Looking for successful implementation of Samba + W2K3 AD
Dear Samba users,
I am desperate to know whether there is any successful implementation of
Samba 3.0.x as member server of Microsoft Windows 2003 server running
Active Directory.
I have in production the said architecture and it is giving me all sort of
connection problems to SAMBA shares during peak hours when users are
numbered as many as 500+ concurrently. When there are only few users,

Problem starting Rumba for Solaris2.5.1
Hi,
I just installed Rumba for Solaris on our SUN SPARC 10.
When I tried to rum it, I got a core dump and a error
indicating bus error after I type in the passward. I heard
this problem has been run on Solaris 2.4 & 2.6 without any
problem. So what's so special about the Solaris 2.5? Or is
there something else causing this problem.
Any help will be appreciated.

Samba on Irix 6.2/6.3 (SAMBA digest 1364)
Todd Daugherty (SAMBA digest 1364) enquired about samba on Irix 6.2/6.2.
For Irix 6.2 I only need to add the following to the Makefile.
# FOR SGI IRIX 6.2, use this line instead
(David.Billinghurst@restech.cra.com.au)
FLAGSM = -DSGI5 -DSHADOW_PWD -DHAVE_TIMEZONE -DFAST_SHARE_MODES
LIBSM =
FLAGS1 = -O -n32

Login as non-guest user
Dear all,
it's being a long time since the last time I posted something here...
:-)
How should I configure my Samba Server to allow users to login with the
Win9x/NT boxes using the same account name as in the UNIX side and to
keep the correct file and directory permissions?
By now, if a user uses a Win9x/NT box to login as, for example,
"martin", the files he transfers from the

Files creation ownership
Dear Samba Gurus,
I would like to know how to configure Samba to keep the file ownership
when someone creates a file on the Win95/98/NT boxes, instead of having
everything set to guest.guest, what forces to change the ownership for
that file to the right user.group everytime.
For example:
On the UNIX side, there's an account like martin.develop, so when I log
in the network using a Win box,

This is the first time I've posted, and I apologize if I formulate this

samba-2.0.0-alpha1 on SGI Irix 6.2
Just compiled samba-2.0.0-alpha1 on SGI Irix 6.2 (using vendor cc). It
compiles and is running.
Did
env CC=cc CFLAGS=-n32 configure --prefix=/var
make
make install
Initially, I tried to build outside the source tree but this failed.

64 bit filesystems (Specifically Irix 6.2)
Following the posting by spd@gtc1.cps.unizar.es (J.A. Gutierrez) in
SAMBA digest 1482
I compiled samba-1.9.17p4 under Irix 6.2 using the -fullwarn flag.
There are around
2000 lines of warnings and messages - quite a few are due to 64 bit file
systems but
there are unused variables, missing prototypes, etc as well.
For example:

elements of struct statvfs are unsigned long, rather

PopUp messages
Dear all,
as you already know, it is possible to send short winpopup messages to
Win boxes using the command smbclient -M host.
If a Win user wants to reply, it should be possible to use the Windows'
WinPopUp GUI to reply, but the message gets lost somewhere.
For example:
smbclient -M winbox
