New TransGaming Patch
This worked with: Wine CVS from Jan 29th + Transgaming patch XFree 4.0.2 NVidia drivers 0.9.6 Had to turn off DGA, and force wine to manage created windows, otherwise I get a glXMakeCurrent error when it tries to set the current GLX rendering context. The frame rate isn't quite windows, but the demo is certainly playable. Good luck, Dan "Chris Howells"

Updating WordPerfect Office
The version of Wine that ships with WPOffice 9 is getting pretty creaky. As far as I can tell, Corel doesn't have any updates on their site, but as far as I know there's no reason that someone couldn't update their version. Anyone have any luck with this? I'm still trying to reproduce their build parameters. -- | I'm old enough that I don't have to pretend to be grown

fixme:ddraw:User_DirectDraw_GetCaps unsupported structure versions
Hi: I can't get Red Alert (The old version, not Red Alert II) to work with wine. This is suprising since the Apps database on winehq.com has three entries that say Red Alert works. For me the screen goes black and stays that way. I get out of it by killing X witn Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. This the the error output from wine: Invoking /opt/wine/bin/wine.bin /WIN95/westwood/redalert/ra95.exe ...

Wine Starcraft slowness
I am running Starcraft under Wine on RH 7.0 with Stock XF86 server. I got OpenGL to work with my NVidia GEForce 2 MX card (hence, DRI works), because I have installed the Linux version of Unreal Tournament and it works beautifully. Unfortunately, that is much more than I can say about Starcraft under Wine. I understand that there is an X extension called DGA that I can use to speed things

most beneficial commercial wine software?
I'm sure the best way to support Wine is directly, through contributing code, money, or other resources. but out of curiosity, if one were to purchase a third-party commercial solution, such as Crossover, Bordeaux, or whatever it is that Transgaming is offering these days, what would be the best choice in terms of contributing to Wine? I guess what I'm asking is which of the wine-based

inefficient: --checksum calculation shouldn't be done for new files
When --checksum is used they're calculated in both ends to see if the file should be transfered. This is of course not necessary if the file doesn't exist in the destination. However, the checksum is still calculated by the sender, which is often a very large overhead. Would it be possible to avoid it?
