[LLVMdev] llvm-gcc broken in iPhone SDK?
There's an error trying to build a "hello world" project out of the box when selecting LLVM from the list of compilers in iPhone SDK: http://arrelid.com/archive/2009/01/15/xcode-iphone-sdk-llvm-gcc-fixing-what-apple-forgot This is on XCode 3.1.2, iPhone SDK 2.2.1 . The blogger suggests what looks like a hack -- is there a proper solution to this? Is llvm-gcc just missing a header

Journal Usage
Hi, I have a large journal of 400MB (the max for 4k blocks), and I'd like to be able to check how much of it is being used. If it's not being used that much, I'd like to know if the writes *from* the journal to the rest of the disk could be delayed until a certain percentage of the journal has been used. It would be nice to be able to get more contiguous writes to the journal for

Swap
I know this is more of a general unix question, but the thread about the last kernel update, and memory usage got me to looking and thinking. Given a system with 2 Gb of memory, and at peak usage, top reports considerably less than the 2 gig amount in use, as well as system monitoring that never shows all available memory used, what would happen if you just turned swap off, and let memory

Booting an ISO with FreeDOS over PXE with memdisk
I've got $SUBJ almost working except for the DOS bit where the CD needs to be read. My pxe config: label Firmware menu label Update IPMI firmware kernel memdisk append keeppxe raw iso initrd=<isofile> The ISO is about 400Mb, and works fine when I boot it from an actual CDROM drive. It also boots fine over PXE, I can see FreeDOS being booted up etc. The problem is - once

efficiency issue with rsync.....
Hi rsync team, I thought that rsync would try to overlap computing and IO on both machines. I'm rsyncing a large tree (18G) and am keeping an eye on that. Suddenly my side completely stopped. No IO visible, no CPU time spent. The otherside was doing 100% CPU. Then the other side started to do disk IO. Then suddenly the activities moved over to my side, and I saw things moving again in the

when does journal flush with data=journal
I'm trying to eek every last bit of performance out of a sync NFS server using ext3. I created a 400MB journal, for my data=journal disk. When copying a 200MB file to the machine, by the sound of the disk, it flushed data to disk about 4 times, so, about every 50MB. For the purposes of user experience, it would be great if this could be tuned. I'd set it to just over a couple

mbox File too large error
Hello, I have a rather large (~400MB) INBOX file in mbox format. When using deliver, it complains in the logs: Dec 2 16:47:13 petole deliver(niko): write() failed with mbox file /home/niko/mail/INBOX: File too large I do not see anything related in the configuration. And ulimit shows nothing special: $ ulimit -a core file size (blocks, -c) 0 data seg size (kbytes, -d)
