Question about rsync and BIG mirror
Hello, I'm quite a n00b on rsync stuff but I went to the website, read FAQ/how-to, Google and more, I setup my own rsync server and clients: everything works fine :-D I'm preparing a plan for a production mode in my company: we need to mirror around 100GB of data trough a special VPN internet line 2MB symmetric. The first time, the data will be transferred by a media such as a HD.

Escape character for --exclude?
Hi-- Ok. I?ve now run into the next thing I can?t find in man, and this time, I googled as well: --exclude /afs/\* I thought you could just say: --exclude /afs/* or even --exclude /afs/ To exclude the entire afs directory. Can you explain what the purpose of the \ and * are here? Thanks again :) All My Best, Jeffrey on 8/6/06 5:00 AM, rsync-request@lists.samba.org at

Using rsync for backup trashes st_atime
Hi! I've just tried to do a backup of a machine with rsync. While doing this (I was reading emails:-) I noted that mbox for mbox, I had no longe new mails, but I've never read off these mailboxes lately... This seemed to be a st_atime problem, and indeed, I could verify that. This is what I used for backup: rsync --archive \ --recursive \

Memory leak in ocfs2/dlm?
Hi! Seems we're facing some memory leak here. This is vanilla 2.6.19-rc6 on a x86_64 box, 4GB RAM. A simple `ls -Rn' on a filesystem with lots of files makes the box leak so much RAM that the OOM killer starts to kick in. With slab alloc debugging turned on, we see this: # mount; ls -Rn; wait some seconds; Ctrl-C [root@lnxp-1038:/backend1]$ cat /proc/slab_allocators | egrep

CATIA V5 & SAMBA Problem
I'm not sure if the problem I'm about to describe is related to configuration or a limitation in SAMBA, hopefully you'll know the answer... We have a SAMBA server that provides Windows workstations access to CATIA V5 CAD data which resides on other NFS servers. The SMB shared directories are all under a single directory called 'catiav5': /catiav5 /server1

samba - CATIA V5
Dear Support Team, We use Samba Server at one of our client site. The Samba 2.2.5 is installed on IRIX6.5 (SGI Machine) OS. Scenario : We have a Dassualt System Product - CATIA V5R15 running on Windows-NT hardware. This software uses logical directory names to store the data. These names get internally resolved in actual directory path, by the CATIA software.

wine and catia OpenGL issues
Hi all Has anyone tried running catia (R5V16) useing wine. I am unable to get the install of the program to start off in wine. I have tried 0.9.27, heard about an opengl issue and went to 0.9.29. Thinking it might be an issue with my lack of understanding of the operation of wine I installed AutoCAD14 and Homeworld2 to know if it was working correctly and had no problems. I fought with the

Error copying files with extended attributes to Windows clients
I just upgraded to 4.7.1 to fix an unrelated bug with deleting directories for OS X clients, and it looks like this bug has been fixed too. I re-enabled ea support, and copies work. It does look like some attrs are lost in the process, but that's probably because they are larger than some NTFS limit? getfattr vlc-2.2.2.dmg # file: vlc-2.2.2.dmg user.com.apple.diskimages.fsck

But despite having the mapping enabled in my [global] section, I cannot create files or directories containing a colon from my Linux client. I have these lines in the [global] section of my
