Rsync killed my server
I have the following as a line in a script kicked off from cron: sudo rsync -e ssh -avz /Times_QPS/ 192.168.22.72:/Times_QPS/ --eahfs It logs the output to a log file, however rsync caused the log file to go to an 80gb file and fill up my disk because it threw a mental when a file it went to sync was no longer there! Is there some way to get the sync to ignore errors? -Jason

Logging from cron
Hello, I've just spent several hours going over several Google searches trying to find a way to configure rsync to log into a file named "/var/log/rsync.log". So far, every instance where I've found someone asking about rsync logging remained unanswered (which is kind of weird in itself). As far as I can tell, the only way to do this is to setup rsync as a daemon process so

rsync via ssh script
Hi, does anybody know, how a bash shell script looks, which automatically enters the ssh password? the rsync call should be: rsync -avz -e ssh /home/johndoe/data/repository billythegate@192.168.10.102:/home/johndoe/junk the call causes a password question. Is ist possible to automate that by a cron? If yes how should the script look to automatically enter the password? ThanX for an answer.

HFS+ resource forks: WIP patch included
As you all know, rsync doesn't have any special handling for Mac OS X HFS+ resource forks. Kevin Boyd made RsyncX and rsync_hfs, to address this gap, but they only work when the destination filesystem is also HFS+. I haven't been able to find any references to an rsync that is capable of syncing from HFS+ to UFS (etc). The only solutions I've seen involve lots of preprocessing

The first I see pretty often is ?e. Can someone explain what this does? Thanks :) All My Best, Jeffrey -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

Rsync order of maginitude slower with twice as large directory
I am in the habit of syncing my /usr/local tree over several computers (all Mac OS X). Recently my /usr/local tree has doubled in size, from 300,000 files to 600,000 files because I have added a large subversion checkout (TeX Live). As a result, rsync has become a time hog. Instead of a minute or two or so to calculate what needs to be sent over, suddenly this process takes 18-20 minutes,

TFTP Server
G'Day All, Can anyone give me some direction in setting up the TFTP server on my RadHat ES3 box? I did quite a bit of reading, but I think I am more unsure now than before. I found the information nebulous. TFTP is already installed. I am trying to determine where the root directory for the tftp services is located so I can copy the CISCO 7960 firmware files onto it. Thanks.... Ferg

Win32 Gem Dependencies
Yeah I just noticed that the latest mongrel gem for win32 doesn''t have the proper dependency for ''daemons''. This of course causes the require to fail. Any chance at getting this fixed for future gems? :) Thanks Josh Ferguson

rsync backups on Mac OS X - mknod errors + icon disappears...
Hi I am a rsync (on Mac OS X, RsyncX version with extended HFS+/-eahfs forks) beginner (I merely use it for backing up my desktop machine to a bootable external firewire volume, so that I can resume work in case of a harddrive disaster) and I got these messages: mknod "/Volumes/backup/Applications/Plone2/Sites/Default/var/zopectlsock" failed: Invalid argument mknod

This is NUTS!!
G'Day All; So I purchased a Cisco 7960 and am now trying to get it configured for *. No can do without the variuos files/images through a FTPF server. I configured the TFTP server on my RHES 3 box, now to get the required CISCO files. So I contacted CISCO to purchase the required maintenance contract so as to gain access to the download area for the files/images. -WHAT A FRUSTRATION!!-

Asterisk NOW - Where to start
G'Day All, Greetings and best wishes. Many moons ago I had an Asterisk system running. Steve Totaro helped me quite a bit. Just now I installed Asterisk NOW 1.5 Beta, and am at the command prompt.....I thought there was a GUI with Asterisk NOW. Anyway, where can I find the install/config documentation or how to launch the GUI, as I have look around on the site but cannot locate it.

Mongrel Bug
Mongrel''s tempfile generation on win32 is broken meaning large files can''t be uploaded. On line 198 of mongrel.rb (0.13.3) HttpRequest#initialize the tempfile function is called:       if clen > Const::MAX_BODY         @body = Tempfile.new(self.class.name)         @body.binmode       else Unfortunately this also includes the module name as the example shows:
