Large File Support on AIX 4.3.3
I've been trying to get rsync to work on AIX 4.3.3 with files > 2GB. I've looked through the archives and saw reference to this, etc. on HPUX but have not been able to come across a solution for AIX. I've tried compiling with the following flags without luck:
"-D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64"
There error I'm getting is as follows (when hitting the 2GB

Is there anyway to fix large file support?
I got Large files working fine on Solaris, just make a 64bit binary :).
Seriously, I would try making a 64bit binary for HPUX as well(something
like +DA2.0W for 64bit PA_RISC).

rsync 2.5.5, HPUX, getting unexplained error at main.c(578)
I compiled rsync-2.5.5 on HPUX 11.11, using the +DA2.0W and +O3 options.
invoking a simple rsync to transfer a file works (I ran a diff on the file,
no changes) e.g:
sdx1 214: ./rsync --rsh='/usr/bin/ssh -x' --rsync-path=/usr/local/src/rsync-2.5.5/rsync /scratch/chuck/tmp.test sdx2:/scratch/chuck
However, adding the -a option yields an unexplained error:

getting swat to run on Hewlit Packard HPUX 10.20
I've just downloaded and installed the SAMBA binaries for HPUX 10.20. I'm
been unsuccessful in getting swat to run though. I've made the correct
entries in the /etc/services file (swat 901/tcp) and in the /etc/inetd.conf
file (swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat) and
have shutdown and restarted the inetd daemon. When I use Netscape and

Deatils are in my postes at that time

Samba and HPUX 11.0
Hello, all.
I am the proud owner of a D360 and a D380, both running HPUX 11. I would
love to be able to run SAMBA on them, but the compile simply blows up. I'm
trying to figure out what's going on there, but has anyone succeeded in
getting SAMBA to run under HPUX 11?
Thanks,

2.0.3 on HPUX 11.0, problem that I can't get past
I'm trying to run 2.0.3 on HPUX 11.0, and thus far have not had any luck.
I can run testparm without any error message. I've tested many smb.conf
files, some from the examples directories, others from web sites, and many of my
own creation, but all give the same set of errors. It's because none of
the changes that I make to smb.conf have any impact that I'm starting to
think

need help - where to get binaries for HPUX 11.0 for 2 .2.3a AND winbind
Hello Altaf,
You can now pull swdepot of Samba 2.2.3a WITH winbind from the samba ftp
site - this is swinstallable and so you will not need to compile - it
already has winbind built.
You can get it from:
http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/bin-pkgs/hp/samba2.2.3a/
named samba_2.2.3a_HPUX_withwinbind.depot
hope this helps,
Don

Karl,
Have you got any ideas on some specific techniques to contain the details
I want? I created an html file with a meta refresh to the m3u url, and
this new listen.pls file actually works from IE, firing up a media player
and loading the m3u playlist/stream. But it does not work from Netscape or
Firefox. They send the listen.pls web page to my media player.

once again: strange characters
Hi all,
I'm currently testing the Novell Netware version of Rsync 2.5.5. I use a RH
80 linux client, the Novell server runs the daemon. The Novell server has
850 (=latin1 ?) as codepage and users sometimes create filenames with "odd"
(international) characters in them. These appear to be converted into other
characters or question marks by rsync, or are simply left out. I've

SUMMARY: Error message
I found the reason I think anyway.
It was the different versions of rsync on the 2 machines.
I upgraded the one on the AIX machine and then it copied just fine.
Thank you jw and Michael for answering.

AW: ssh + permissions
The "-a" option (the "--links", "--perms", "--devices", and "--times" options are redundant, as
they, as well as "--owner", "--group", and "--recursive" are implied by

non-interactive ssh connections (was Re: RSYNC ISSUE)
First, an item to fix: the substitution of "-P" for "-p". All good
operating systems are case-sensitive, and many utilities, ssh included,
are case sensitive about their options. "-P" is passed along with the
"-p" to signal that the next parameter is the passphrase, to enable
passphrase setting directly in the commandline. If that's wrong,

HPUX net ads join
Have been running samba successfully authenticating to a windows 2003
domain since 3.0.1. Starting in 3.0.23 and 3.0.23b I can't do a "net
ads join" on a HPUX itanium server running 11.23 ia64. I can kinit just
fine w/ this userid. Samba was built with gcc 4.1.1. See below:

Re: Which Samba (CIFS ?) For HPUX 11.00 ?
Hi Nick,
This topic should be on samba@lists.samba.org - not technical. I'll
give you a brief overview, and any followup send to me directly.
HP-CIFS Server for 11.0 is based upon Samba 2.2.12. Support for 11.0
ends there - at 2.2.12. Go to:

If you want to continue on 11.0, HP posts 3.0.14a Opensource

openssh 3.1 and rsync dont work - BUTssh 2.9.9.p1 does !
We have AIX 4.3.3 ML09 and AIX 5.1 ML01
I have narrowed the problem down, it is nothing to do with
uni/multiprocessor machines.
Both rsync 2.3.1 compiled by Bull in an installp and a gcc compiled
version of 2.4.5 ( by me ) both have exactly the same problem with SSH
3.1.p1 and both DONT have the problem with SSH 2.9.9p1 - so I assume this
is something highly specific to SSH 3.1.1.p1
Hope this

SAMBA 3.0 on HPUX as an ADS Domain Member
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has tried setting up any of the Samba 3.0,
alpha or beta versions, as an ADS domain member from HPUX 11.0 or 11i? Is
it possible to use the Kerberos and LDAP libraries from the HP application
CD's or do we have to download the MIT and OpenLDAP libraries?
Thanks in advance.
