Bug in compile of rsync 2.5.4 on Tru64 UNIX V5.1a using cc
Greetings, here is the output of the 'configure' step and
the compile step (using the Compaq cc compiler that comes
with Tru64 V5.1A. The configure reported success and most of
the compile steps cam through error/warning free except for
the one that stumbled. Can someone help me out here? I am willing
to provide a binary for Tru64 V5.1A if we can swat this bug.
We depend greatly on Rsync

building problem with rsync up to 2.5.5
Heya All,
Im having difficulties compiling rsync. when i run 'make' the
build errors out on me. I run configure without any fancy
options. The same goes for the make command. I have had this
error, or a similar one since version 2.5.1 op to at least
v2.5.5
I am using "-O3 -mcpu=i686 -march=i686" as additional compiler
flags, however removing them does not make difference.

Makefile.in (install-strip) problem & 2.5.2 build error
Hi,
1. "make install-strip" (in rsync-2.5.x) tries to strip the manpages and
thus fails; attached is a patch fixing the Makefile logic (and
also adding DESTDIR -- convenient for package-building or test-installing).
2. I just fetched rsync-2.5.2 but the build (on i686-linux) badly fails.
The complete log from configure and make is attached.

Ex-Bug Report: -z option
Since writing this I've recompiled with zlib 1.1.4 and everything appears
smooth. Since this is intermittant, I'll send it off anyways in the hops that
someone else may see it. It also *might* apply to the "known issues"
entry about "unexpected close." (Similar symptoms, but it may just be a shared
codepath on the messages. Note that the dumped len in my output(4)

Bug in compile of rsync 2.5.4 on Tru64 UNIX V5.1a using cc on AlphaServer 1000 5/300
Hi Paul, your suggestion about batch.c got by the compiler without a
peep and it got much farther along again with complaint from cc until....

building rsync on MacOSX 10.2.2
This is to let you know that although rsync compiled on MacOSX 10.2.2,
it failed certain tests. I have attached two files: (1) The combined
output of "./configure" and make", and (2) the output of "make check".
Please let me know if you need any further information.

Rsync-2.5.5 on Tru64 UNIX V51.A
Hi
I am trying to compile rsync-2.5.5 on Tru64 UNIX V5.1A
The configure completed sucessfully however the make failed. The following
is a copy of the configure and make output. Could you please provide advice
as to why this is failing and hopefully resolution.
Just as a matter of comparison - rsync-2.5.4 make also fails, however,
rsync-2.4.8 compiled sucessfully on this version of Tru64 5.1A

Problems with 2.5.3 under Debian Linux
I'm having serious problems with the current 2.5.3 release under
Debian "testing" and the 2.4.19-pre2 Linux kernel.
As you can see from the appended build log, I get many compiler
warnings. More seriously, when I install and try to use the
resulting binaries over ssh, things bomb horribly, e,g:
bash-2.05a$ rsync -vaz homer-rr.ka9q.net:wwv_wwvh .

Failed to create rounding.h!
On an i686 with glibc 2.5 installed I'm not able to compile rsync 3.0.2
and later. rsync 3.0.0 was no problem, this compiled. Also on an x86_64
with glibc 2.7 installed rsync compiled.
Here is a script of the failing comilation:

klibc 1.5.21-1 and mksh
tags 516774 = patch
tags 516294 = upstream
thanks
Hi!
Please find attached a diff closing #516774 by adding mkstemp(3),
again with a minimalistic pseudo-arc4random(3) behind it. I?ve
revisited the code. An mkstemp testsuite from the ?net shows it
works, except for not caring how many ?X?en are in the template.
Addressing #516294, it allows compiling and linking an mksh from

Patch for systems with no setreuid()
Sorry if I'm duplicating an existing patch, but...
On systems with no seteuid() that have setreuid() there is an
emulation, but if both are lacking (but we do have setresuid()),
nothing is done. The following seems to be right, but I've only got
one machine (running an ancient version of HP-UX) which needs this so
it may not be general:

Compilation problem and solution on Solaris 2.7
To whoever it may help,
My flavor of Solaris 2.7 was not able to compile rsync 2.5.5 with the
vanilla "./configure; make".
Three functions where missing : inet_ntop, inet_pton, inet_addr
There are replacement inet_ntop and inet_pton in the distribution tree, so
it's easy to change the Makefile and have them compiled and included by a
simple "make". However, the inet_addr
