VBR reencoding @128k problem
Hello,
I've noticed that when I try to reencode VBR mp3s to broadcast @128k , they are not being reencoded at all. They stream as normal VBRs I am unable to reproduce this at lower bitrates (56-112k i've specifically tested and all work fine). It does reencode all non-VBR mp3s appropriately to 128k... Any ideas why VBR reencoding would suddenly stop working at 128k?
I've attempted

VBR reencoding @128k problem
I did some further investigating into this issue and here's what I found:
It appears somewhere between ices0.1.0 and ices 0.2.0 is where the "bug" (for lack of a better term) was introduced that i'm noticing. When I compile ices0.2.0 w/lame 3.89beta, the VBR is *NOT* reencoded, but instead streamed out at full VBR bitrate(s). However, when using ices0.1.0 w/lame 3.89beta, it

Net2Phone, Asterisk, and "404 Not Found"
Hi!
Net2Phone is getting a common SIP status code, "404 Not Found," when
trying to place a call to our Asterisk server. We're hoping someone on
the list can shed some light on why this is happening. We can process a
call from Asterisk to Net2Phone without any problems.
Net2Phone sends the INVITE but immediately gets the "404 Not Found."

dell says bye bye to Linux
Well. A priori. I'm a dedicated legacy OS person. I cut my teeth on
command line DOS and then WIN 3.xx (these days that means WFWG 3.11). I drew
the line at WIN9x. Hate that beast with a true passion, but because it is
the 800 pound gorilla, I have to find some way to accomodate it in the
future.
So, here is the rub. Linux is a real PITA. Capital PITA. Unbelievably techie
and that is bad.

Net2Phone Multiple SIP Trunk Not Working
Hi All,
As Net2Phone don't permit more than one session per account, I configured
about 10 sip trunks and configure multiple trunk routing but once the first
trunk is used I cannot make additional calls, I also cofigure my dial plan
in other way using the chanisavail command but still not working.
The chanisavail command configuration is correct as I can make calls using
other trunk than

Actually what is the SQL DB used for?
Is a RDBMS required for Dovecot to run in small (SOHO) environments? (Does it store indexes to the mail, etc.?) Or is it strictly leveraged for larger-scale environments?
I'm asking, because the INSTALL says ./configure and make is enough for most...but as my previous post requested...there isn't anywhere that lists Required Packages/Software. We need to get that out there before 1.0RC

smbmount slow connect on system with many files
I am mounting a WinNT server share from redhad 9, and it takes nearly 2 minutes to connect for the first time. Once it connects everything is great.
This server has hundreds of thousands of directories and files, and I believe it is taking a long time because it caches the directory information or checks all the permissions or something along these lines. I setup another share without any sub

Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6 over SSH hangs on Win2k->Win2k
When using Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6/OpenSSH 3.6.1 for copying files from
Win2k->Win2k, I get 2 or 3 hung processes on the receiving-side out of about
every 50 runs. These hung processes cause the system to be unable to
reboot(?!), requiring a hard reset. Killing the processes allows a graceful
reboot every time. I'm currently running both ssh and rsync as services on
the recieving side.

Internet Telephony, net2phone
As a newbie, can anyone advise me if Asterisk can route international calls
to a US based service such as Net2Phone so we can take advantage of the
internet and save on calls?
That would be my main reason for an Asterisk based PBX.
