SPARC SATA, please.
Is there a card for OpenSolaris 2009.06 SPARC that will do SATA correctly yet? Need it for a super cheapie, low expectations, SunBlade 100 filer, so I think it has to be notched for 5v PCI slot, iirc. I''m OK with slow -- main goals here are power saving (sleep all 4 disks) and 1TB+ space. Oh, and I hate to be an old head, but I don''t want a peecee. They still scare me :)

Accidentally added disk instead of attaching
Hi,
I wanted to add a disk to the tank pool to create a mirror. I accidentally used zpool add ? instead of zpool attach ? and now the disk is added. Is there a way to remove the disk without loosing data? Or maybe change it to mirror?
Thanks,
Martijn

SXCE 121 Kernel Panic while installing NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM DomU
Hi all!
I am running SXCE 121 on a dual quad-core X2200M2 (64 bit of course).
During an installation of a NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM domU, the entire machine
crashed with a kernel panic. Here''s what I managed to salvage from
the LOM console of the machine:

Problem installing RCS on SXCE
I was shocked to find no RCS on SXCE 107. I needed it to update some
RCS archives I had copied over.
No problem - go to sunfreeware and copy it over. No OpenSolaris branch?
The Solaris 10 package should work.
Only the package install appears to complete and does not - as
documented only in a log file, not on my screen.
OK then, the source for RCS should be easily compiled and installed, I

Newbie here. Tips on setting up 100 phones wanted.
I'm looking at setting up Asterisk for a completely IP environment.
All intercompany calls.
I work for a ski area. I currently use a 3Com Superstack for in our
office. And an old small town phone system for up at the mountain. The
phone system is dying and I'm hoping to bring IP to replace the old
phones. It will be about 100 phones at about 20 locations all within
about 4 miles of each

ZFS extended ACL
What is wrong with this?
# chmod -R A+user:webservd:add_file/write_data/execute:allow /var/apache
chmod: invalid mode: `A+user:webservd:add_file/write_data/execute:allow''
Try `chmod --help'' for more information.
This works in a zone, works on S10u5, does not work on OpenSolaris2008.11.

UPS integration into NUT
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
we are developer and producer of UPS devices. Now we would like to integrate a small UPS via USB connection to NAS systems. We heart from third party that we need a special driver for NAS systems to work fine and to display also the company name and UPS device name in the web page / software of NAS.
Currently we have a UPS with USB and our own VID (0x2B2D) and PID

WEBrick development environment not reloading views in Windows
I recently RoR on a machine running Windows 2003 server. When I fire
WEBrick using the development environment, it does not reload the app
with changed views. I have to shut down WEBrick and restart it to see
the changes. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm amazed at the postings. Many of the solutions to questions posted

Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8
Bouncing a thread from the device drivers list:
http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=357176
Does anybody know if OpenSolaris will support this new Supermicro card,
based on the Marvell 88SE6480 chipset? It''s a true PCI Express 8 port JBOD
SAS/SATA controller with pricing apparently around $125.
If it works with OpenSolaris it sounds pretty much perfect.

fstab Pass Column and forced disk checks
If I have the 6th column in fstab (the pass column) set to 0, does that mean
disk checks will never be forced at boot regardless of anything like File
System State, Mount Count, and Check Interval on the file system itself, or
are there exceptions to this?
I know `man fstab` says:
If the sixth field is not present or zero, a value of zero is returned and
fsck will assume that the filesystem does

Ubuntu GlusterFS in Production
Hi,
Is anyone using GlusterFS on Ubuntu in production? Specifically, I'm looking at using the NFS portion of it over a bonded interface. I believe I'll get better speed than user the gluster client across a single interface.
Setup:
3 servers running KVM (about 24 VM's)
2 NAS boxes running Ubuntu (13.04 and 13.10)
Since Gluster NFS does server side replication, I'll put

Estimating EGARCH processes with R
Hallo,
I am a student specializing statistics and econometrics in germany. I know there is a way to program EGARCH-processes (time series analyses) in R.
If you are ackquainted with statistics already you know that there is nothing but a theorethical use of GARCH-Package in R. Not only because the distribution is gaussian, but also because the skewdness and leptokurthosis are not quite good

arcstat updates
Hi ZFSers,
I''ve been working on merging the Joyent arcstat enhancements with some of my own
and am now to the point where it is time to broaden the requirements gathering. The result
is to be merged into the illumos tree.
arcstat is a perl script to show the value of ARC kstats as they change over time. This is
similar to the ideas behind mpstat, iostat, vmstat, and friends.

Write caches on X4540
We''re using some X4540s, with OpenSolaris 2008.11.
According to my testing, to optimize our systems for our specific
workload, I''ve determined that we get the best performance with the
write cache disabled on every disk, and with zfs:zfs_nocacheflush=1 set
in /etc/system.
The only issue is setting the write cache permanently, or at least quickly.
Right now, as it is,
