Bizarre Networking
Hi,
I''ve bit the bullet and gone with Xen, but I get some odd networking.
Basically, this was the original idea.
eth0 external
eth1 internal
create bridge br0 for eth0
create bridge br1 for eth1
Strip IP addresses for eth0 and eth1 and assign to br0 and br1
respectively. Worked great in a non-xen kernel under Fedora 8 in KVM/Qemu.
Booting into Xen, my eth1 becomes eth2, I also get

What on Centos is wiping out my eth0 IP address every 5 minutes?
QUESTION:
Why does my Centos 6.4 laptop keep wiping out my eth0 IP address?
SUMMARY:
a) I set the IP address of eth0
b) Everything works fine for 2 to 5 minutes
c) Then, that eth0 IP address is (somehow?) wiped out
I frustratingly repeat that abc process (over and over and over again)

Troubles with NetworkManager
NetworkManager used to work fine for me but during the last few
installations its a big hurdle in the wireless connectivity.
I'm using Madwifi and its interface is correctly listed and working but I
cannot connect to any wifi AP without NetworkManager. I've two interfaces:
eth0 and wifi0. Starting NetworkManager doesn't show any notification icon
in the top right in gnome and I believe

Incomplete host name resolution
Hello
I happen to have two network interfaces on my new, up-to-date, CentOS
6.2, named eth0 and virbr0 (3 of them if I include the lo interface).
However the system APIs like getaddrinfo() only return the address for
the virbr0 interface (which was created by the CentOS installation),
when I would like to have them both.
Even if I give the configured eth0 address explicitly to getnameinfo(),

mysterious weekly shutdown
I have a Centos 5.4 machine that has, for the past two weeks, apparently
been shut off over the weekend. It's just sitting there turned off on
Monday morning and when someone hits the power switch it comes right
back on and everything works again.
This happened last weekend, and again over this past weekend.
Here is /var/log/messages from shortly before it apparently shut down
this weekend.

New Domain can't connect to localhost
Hai,
A quick reply, i was almost out of the office here..
Your config looks ok except one thing.
You can try switching the hosts, like this.
/etc/nsswitch.conf
hosts:????????? files dns mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return]
I suggest you verify the dns A PTR NS records of the servers.

PROBLEM: Filesystem became readonly, then kernel crashes on shutdown
Hi All,
I just had "an issue" with my Linux 2.6.1 kernel. While working, I
tried to rf -rf a directory, and was told my filesystem was mounted
readonly (which it wasn't). I then shut the machine down, and on
shutdown, I got a "kernel BUG at fs/ext3/super.c: 411". Full report below:

I am having a strange problem. I have been using python + rpy2 on my Mac
for quite sometime now. I recently upgraded to OS X 10.8 from 10.6 and
that's when the problem began.
Now, when I try to load some R packages (like zoo) using robjects.r, python

Multihome routing question
Hello,
I am new to network routing and I need help configuring a linux box with
two ethernet cards. In this case it''s a Linux RH 7.3 box, in a cabinet
that already has a couple of Windows servers. The Windows server routing
is below as an example.
The Linux box has an out-of-band interface at 10.130.36.38 and a public
eth at 62.50.8.84. I had to add a route for the private interface so
