Listing machines as non-root user
I have a problem with virsh. I'm using eucalyptus software on top of xen 4 (debian squeeze). The problem is that unix user "eucalyptus" cannot see vm machines when it executes "virsh list". My libvirt version is 0.8.8-3 from debian sid repository. The same problem occurs with older versions. What is more I have tried to change unix_sock_ro_perms to "2777". After

Infinite loop shutting down xendomains
Pardon me for a long detailed post but this looks pretty serious. The bottom line is that, when I attempt to shut down or reboot my simple xen-2.0.7 server running FC3 with two domUs, shutting down xendomains appears to send python into an infinite loop. This may be due to a serious misconfiguration on my part but it is certainly a big problem. If we shutdown the domUs manually first, the

run virsh as non-root user
Hi, I have encountered problem running virsh as non-root user. I am using eucalyptus software on top of KVM, eucalyptus requires to run virsh as non-root user. I've found that people had similiar issue posted in the list, but I didn't find the solution. I've tried few things. 1) put user eucalyptus in the libvirt group. 2) even changed owner /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock to

Cluster (VPC), Eucalyptus and preferred distribution to it.

VirtualBox headless
Hello, I'm trying to use the VirtualBox/vbox driver together with libvirt 0.8.1 on a Ubuntu Lucid Machine, VirtualBox Release 3.1. The goal is to run the virtual machines headless and to connect using RDP. When starting a virtual domain using 'virsh start <domainname>' the GUI of VirtualBox will pop up and I see no option to prevent this. If X is not running, the virsh command

Monitoring KVM Machine Uptimes
Hey folks. Currently, I am working on an accounting-solution for Private Cloud with Eucalyptus as my bachelor-thesis. Eucalyptus bases on libvirt providing the KVM machines. Part of the thesis is kind of measurement for the uptimes of each instance in the cloud. As Eucalyptus is based on libvirt, i want to know if there is kind of tool already setup for monitoring a vm in terms of uptimes,

Winbind doesn't honor rfc2307 data set in AD (Samba 4.3.6 on Debian jessie)
Hi all, I've just installed Samba 4.3.6 on Debian jessie amd64 (as described in the wiki [1]) and everything seems to work properly except for rfc2307 data that winbind doesn't retrieve from AD backend, shell is always "/bin/false", homedir is always "/home/DOMAIN/username" and "getent passwd" also lists user without unix attributes. I have configured idmap_ad

using vbox driver hypervisor support
Hi, I installed Libvirt. We need virtualbox support for libvirt. But we are unable to see the vbox option in virt-manager. How we can find vbox hypervisor driver? And also we already compiled libvirt with vbox option.(--with-vbox). But that didn't work. And also when we are creating the new virtual machine through virt-manager we are getting the following error: internal error

libvirt 0.8.1
Hi Everyone, I''m running my Dom0 on Ubuntu 10.04. My Xen install is working ok - Xend is listening on port 8000 and xm list shows the running VMs. I wanted to upgrade my version of libvirt so I could get the latest virt-manager working with Xen 4.0. I used the Ubuntu packages linked on this page: http://spblinux.de/blog/2010/05/xen-4-0-with-libvirt-0-8-1-replace-xm-new-by-virsh/ I
