Hey guys, I was curious about something. When Wine installs a program, that creates a shortcut after installation, it is usually placed on the desktop (as it would in Windows). So how I can create the same type of shortcut which will use the .exe's inbuilt icon; as Wine does? I know how to create a shortcut but i'd manually need to search for a .png file to use as that shortcuts icon.

I have latest Wine on Ubuntu 11.10, and i want get my 3 Steam games running. The problem is that, i try to start a game, it says "Prepairing to start (game name)" and then it closes, game wont start. I would like to get Garry's Mod, Portal and Portal 2 working. I have ATI HD 4250 and i have installed drivers from Additional Drivers in Ubuntu. What i should do?

Anyone else notice that launching of games (CSS, HL2, etc.) from Steam appears to be foobar'd using the current SVN (wine-1.1.15-221-g79cc416)? I haven't had a chance to do _proper_ regression test yet, but a quick test of jumping back to 1.14 made things work again. I can install other hl2 mods and they show up in my games list and run fine, however whenever I install fortress forever it doesn't show up. I've even tried the shortcut that installs from the setup. But when I run that it just says loading source sdk base and nothing happens. There is no useful terminal output either. This is on wine 1.1.19. Help would be very much appreciated.

When ever I try to run FEAR 2 or Half-Life in Steam the "Preparing to launch" window comes up and then disappears. I assume every game I have will do this same thing, but it takes way to long to install anything in Steam. Is it possible to run steam like normal, in gnome, and have the games it launches run in virtual desktop mode? I only particularly want this with Dead Space 2, as it has problems not running in VD mode.I have tried to set Steam.exe as non virtual desktop, and deadspace2.exe as virtual desktop, but it just launches DS2 in the gnome environment. tl;dr Can I have an app running in Gnome desktop

Hi. I've an issue with wine 1.1.18 on FC10 X86_64 and Steam games. My steam folder is /mnt/windows. It's a NTFS partition. Steam launch is ok. Fonts are anormal but ... That's run.
