Is there Wine-like software for other guest platforms?
The wine concept--a compatibility layer that allows running executables compiled for Windows on a Linux or Unix host--is a very useful concept that could reasonably be used to adapt between other platforms. It's somewhere between running a virtual machine and cross-compiling the application.
Is there anything similar for other (non-Windows) guest platforms?
Right now, I'm specifically

What are these "wine settings"??
Hi,
I'm trying to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=24271).
On this page, it says to enable the wine settings "AlwaysOffScreen", "UseGLSL", "StrictDrawOrdering", etc. What does this mean? I don't see these in winecfg, I can't find them in the registry, so where do I set them??
Thanks,

Does winetricks run wine?
Hi,
Does winetricks run the wine executable? Reason is, I have several versions of wine installed in separate directories. I want to know if I need to tell winetricks which version to use. I'd appreciate it if anyone could either tell me that (1) I shouldn't worry about it, it doesn't matter which version of wine is installed, or (2) how to tell winetricks which wine executable to

I hope this is some kind of joke. How would anyone get offended by reading
technical comments? This is all beyond me...

[PATCH 1/1] ocfs2/net: Use wait_event() in o2net_send_message_vec()
Replace wait_event_interruptible() with wait_event() in o2net_send_message_vec().
This is because this function is called by the dlm that expects signals to be
blocked.

ip range cidr calculator
I found a command-line program that did this once before, used it for a
while and then forgot about it until right now and I'll be damned if I
can find it again.
A command line IP calculator that takes an address range and give it
back in cidr format.
I found an online one that does this here:

But I would prefer to have the

album portion of the tags request
I wanted to post publicly my problem with Jonathan's proposed album
requirements. Although I do apologize, since this thread is too big already.
The idea that as a requirement one should be able to identify the exact CD
a track was ripped from is not a valid requirement in my book (not for the
tags at least), and I hope I can explain why. Without knowing the exact
way Jonathan wishes to

changing cex pointwise in lattice
Dear R-users,
I have tried, and I imagine it should be somewhere in the lines of passing extra arguments to the panel function, but does anyone know how to change the character expansion factor that is affecting an individual point in each of the panels of a lattice plot?
I have tried to pass an overall cex argument containing the desired size for each point, but then the sizes are reused for the

Guest debugging fails for 32bit, works for 64bit
I''ve followed the instructions in tools/debugger/gdb/README for
building and using gdbserver-xen. While playing around with debugging
a running guest or dissecting a core file, I''ve discovered that using
it with a 32-bit PV domU fails but it works fine on the same guest if
it''s booted with a 64-bit kernel. Is this a known limitation, or am I
doing something incorrectly?

spatial modeling
I am new to R and have a question about spatial econometrics. I have
noticed that you can easily test for spatial autocorrelation with the
spdep package, but was wondering if any code has been written to correct
for spatial autocorrelation? Or if there is any literature on this?
Thanks. -Jill
