similar to: How to install games with more than one CD/DVDs?

I have been trying to install several games, and all of the ones that have more than one disk fail, one way or another, at the point of changing cd's. Some (doom3) just quit [there exists an alternative plan for doom3], and others (Baldur's Gate-SoA) lock up the cd and won't let go. The only way to get the cd out is to kill the installer. I prefer to run games that require CDs from image files, since it is faster and protects the life of my CDs. In windows, I would just mount the disc image and I could then play. But using Wine and Ubuntu, it appears to work differently. Can you do this? I have not found the options to get this to happen. So far I have seen how to read the Audio CD and make a directory of WAV files with a control file for later burning to CD, but I want an iso image that I can archive and burn audio CDs to use as they get used up.
