can't run DirectX applications properly - window garbled
Hello,
I have searched, read and tried everything I can think of, but without success. So I really need some help here.
The application I am currently trying to use is PixPlant, but I have the same problems with other apps using directx or opengl (I am totally confused now) to display some content. PixPlant is a program for generating textures. It has an area in its main window where it displays

Trouble with directx
I used wine to install 3DSMax 7 in ubuntu. Unlike other versions, this one is known (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2588&iTestingId=45222) to run with wine. Even though the software indeed is starting and running, I'm facing trouble with directx and my ATI-graphics-card now: The viewports just don't refresh (see screenshot below). Changing to OpenGL

DirectX questions
Hello all,
Many games include a DirectX bundle in their installation setup, therefore the WINE DirectX implementation becomes overriden when we test games. However, not only this prevent the testing of WINE's DirectX implementation, the bundle they install is usually outdated. I was wondering therefore if preventing the DirectX install is possible, and if yes, would it be useful for WINE

DirectX in Wine
I've tried to install the game "Caesar 3" on my Linux-box. It worked fine
during the installation. The problem appeared when I wanted to play it.
Caesar 3 needed the file DDRAW.DLL
I found out that it was one of DirectX's .dll-files. Isn't Wine supposed
to work with DirectX without installing it? Doesn't Wine have its own
"DirectX-clone"?
What should I

Wine and DirectX
I have a couple of questions about Wine, just in an attempt to enhance
my understanding of it:
Is Wine writing its own implementation of DirectX, which sort of
'forwards' instructions to an equivilant in OpenGL?
Is it possible to install the official MS DirectX under Wine? If not,
why not?
Thanks for any info :-)

Problems with Directx
Ever since 1.1.27, I've been having problems with what I think is directx. I updated to 1.1.29 (I skipped .28) and I still get the same errors. I've tried using winetricks to install Directx9, but it doesn't do much to alleviate the problem. I've completely deleted my .wine folder and reinstalled 1.1.29 from scratch, but I still get the problem. I have the latest nVidia drivers

Alt+right click in DirectX applications
Hi all,
I sincerely hope you can help me with this since it has turned out to be a real hassle for me. The problem is, that whenever I Alt+Right click in a fullscreen DirectX application (in this case World of Warcraft), it open the menu from the window manager similar to the menu which pops up when you right click the titlebar of a windowed application (Maximize / Minimize / Move / Resize ...).

Probs with wine/DirectX
So I got wine working.... sort of. I was never able to run 'wineinstall'
b/c if i try to run it under my ordinary login, it halts at 'config' and
says I don't have permission, but if I log in as root, I can change
directories to the /usr/src/wine/tools and I can see 'wineinstall' and
'config' as executable files (I even chmod a+x them to be sure) but when at:

Wine DirectX on Mac OS X
I have been for a while now waiting to see if this would get fixed or improved at all, but it has not been so. What is the current status of trying to get OpenGL or DirectX programs (anything in Wine that requires OpenGL) to run on Mac OS X. I have, in all my searchings of the net, found no possible way of doing so at the moment. Wine compiles fine and finds openGL (both release version and git)

OpenGL version / info. needed for WINE to render DirectX
Howdy, the open source radeon driver doesn't get along too well with WINE. Most 3D games render extremely slowly, or not at all.
In Project64, to take a random example, I get a lot of
Code:
fixme:d3d_draw:drawStridedSlow >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glEnd and previous calls @ drawprim.c / 570
errors.
I know this

warcraft III no directx, no open gl
Hi, i am very new to linux (opensuse) and wine.

If i try to launch the game, I get couldn't intialize directx etc. Same happens with -opengl flag (other error ofc).
Things I've tried: rename movies folder & virtual desktop in wine.

Cannot run apps requiring DirectX - Intel card
Hi, everyone,
my first post here, and I'm not even quite sure if I should post it in a Wine forum or in an Intel or an OpenGL one, but since my problems occur only with Wine I guess I should start here.
The problem is, I simply cannot run any program that require DirectX. After googling about it, I've found out that the problem lies in my Graphic card, which is an Intel GM965 that has

Where to install DirectX 9.0c Nov,2008?
I DLed DirectX 9.0C redistributable and ran it with Wine. I didn't know it would want to know the directory to install to. Its obviously going to be in Wine's drive_c folder, but beyond that I have no idea. I was having some trouble with Winetricks installer so i thought manually would be easier.
Anyone know where to install these files?

Warcraft III and DirectX?
Hi,
I've just installed Warcraft III without any problems. But when I try to run
it with one of the following commands:
wine war3 -opengl
wine "Warcraft III.exe" -opengl
a dialog box appears which tells me that Warcraft could not find DirectX 8.1.
My wine version is 20050725, my warcraft III version is 1.00 and I'm running a
Debian Sarge system with linux-2.6.8.

Older DirectX games, choppy
Hello:
I've been a user of Wine for quite some time, but have an issue that I cannot figure out. Hopefully it is somewhat simple.
I'm trying to get some older kids games working (most of the games are dated around 2002 or so). I know they use some version of DirectX. They aren't even 3D, they are all 2D games. The issue is that some of them are really choppy, and the sound is

Problem playing Warcraft III (directx)
Hi. I found out about Wine 2 days ago. So, my goal is to play Warcraft III through Garena with Wine on my Mac. I installed Garena, and it works ok so far. But I cant initialize Warcraft III, I get this message: "Warcraft was unable to initialize DirectX. Please ensure you have DirectX 8.1 or newer installed and that your display drivers are current."
I already installed d3dx9 and

[LLVMdev] VMKit state of the union, android support, and .net/CLI
I looked into the archives as far back as 2009 and searched around for more
information about vmkit, but I still have some questions.
First of all, what is that status of VMKit? Is there any active
development? A roadmap? Is it in maintenance mode?
Secondly, can VMKit generate binaries that can be used on android/jni?
Finally, I understand that the .net/CLI support is no longer being

Wow says no DirectX
Wine 1.3.37
After patching, tried to start Wow with Wow.exe. Got a dialog box that says I need the latest DirectX Runtime. I have 'winecfg' set to XP and Blizzard says that means ver. 9.0c, which, I read somewhere, is what Wine has completed and uses by default. Please feel free to correct any misconceptions I may have.
What now?
