SIP on Handhelds
Does anyone know if SIP will/is support on handheld PCs such as the iPaq
or Axiom? With their integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth it seems like a
solution to provide a wireless based sip phone for any user would be
possible. Handoff between access points might be problematic but most
users I know would be using their PDA phone in an airport with free
wireless or at the local cafe, etc, etc...

Error connecting to Samba share from pocketPC
I've setup a wireless network with a Linux server, several Windows XP PC's
and a PocketPC running Windows Mobile 2003 SE. The Linux server is running
Debian and Samba 3.0.10. All is working fine, with Samba as a domain
controller and serving shares for the Windows PC's.
However my PocketPC is unable to connect to a Samba share (it can connect
just fine to a share on Windows XP)

speex on Dell Axim X51v
Hi,
Sorry to be posting about a subject that may have already been answered. If so, please point me in the right direction.
I'm developing a dictation application on the Dell Axim (Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC). A key requirement of the application is the best possible sampling rate as the audio goes into a speech reco system. So, I've set up my wrapper around libspeex to capture audio

Re: Speex on a T.I. TMS320C5510 DSP
Hi Frank,
Actually, I just merged (in SVN) a patch doing exactly that. AFAIK it
allows Speex to run on a C55x. I think it should work for you with the
following caveats:
1) The static codebooks still take up 16 bits for every 8-bit value
(that's only a code size issue)
2) The bit-packer always returns a multiple of 16 bits instead of 8 bits
(but it uses all bits when packing).

tc on a PDA
hello,
i have a 5500 iPaq with familiar 0.8.2 on it and i don''t know how to
install a traffic shaper tool on it.
I installed iproute2 package i found on familiar site and for that i
have the tc and ip commands, but when trying to add a qdisc, as a
dummy example, i get the next answer:
> tc qdisc add dev wlan0 root cbq bandwidth 100Mbit avpkt 100

RE: Difference in Encoding of files on Pocket PCvis-à-vis desktop
Hello Jean-Marc,
I encoded a 143 kb file on both the desktop as well as the Pocket PC using the default settings/
Here are the results.
Size : Desktop - 17.6 Kb, Pocket PC -17.1 kb (not much difference in size)
Now when I try to decode the file encoded on the Pocket PC, I get a message
"This doesn't look like a Speex file". However, when I decode the Pocket PC encoded file on

PDA as source client
Has anybody used anything other than a PC as a source for icecast2? Are
PDAs powerfull enough? I know vorbis encoding takes a signifigant amount
of CPU power, but I've been able to do it on 4 year old PCs. Does a
206MHz Intel StrongARM 32-bit RISC processor have as much power as a 200
Mhz Pentium?
I'm thinking Compaq iPaq, running Familiar Linux and IceS, would make a
nice portable

speex on Dell Axim X51v
Hi there,
i'm not into speex internals but i feel that your problems are due to the
fact
that speex doesn't do yet fixed point operations and it seems that you lack
FPU on your PDA. So i would expect a big boost in performances when the
fixed
point version of Speex will be out.
Cheers,
Luca
