Speex on EFM32
In fact, on my shelf is running speex using Raisonance Primer2 DK and IAR STM32-SK DK. But I want to save the power consumption of the device runnig speex, and EFM32 seems to be a very good candidate. Also, do yo think that the STM32F103 (Cortex M3 90 MIPS) could be used to run Speex at 4 Kbps in real time? Regards, Nicolas 2010/3/3 Jean-Marc Valin <jean-marc.valin at usherbrooke.ca> >

Speex on EFM32
Thanks ! On this forum is also shown this information : http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2009-January/007050.html According to vk's results, it could be possible to run Speex at 4/6 & 8 kbps on a Cortex M-3 at 36 MHz ... so not excluding the EFM32 ... Speex on EFM32
On ST forums there is someone that states it has done an optimized port of the library that run Speex at 4Kbps (ST port is only 8Kbps). Take a look here (hoping that the link works):

Using a custom library in iTunes
I have installed iTunes in Wine! Yay! However, I have a slight problem. In order for iTunes to be any use to me, I need to access my music library, which is stored on my data partition. Usually, one holds the shift key while opening iTunes, and it gives the option to choose library or create a new one. However, in my Wine install of iTunes, this doesn't work, it just opens it to the default

Really dumb question
Just got dovecot running inside MEPIS 3.3.2 SOHO (debian). I am impressed. It works really well and I am planning to move my mail away from my Win server and access the mail from dovecot using imap. I have copied some folders from my existing Outlook mail system into the imap mail server without any problems....so here is the dumb question: where are the mail files/folders stored on the MEPIS

Unable to find rdoc for mepis.
I''ve just setup mepis. It comes with 1.8.4. I though it would be easy to install Rails on it. So, I downloaded the ruby gems. But when I try to install it using ruby setup.rb. It cannot find Rdoc. I''ve tried apt-get install rdoc. This gives an ''rdoc not found in repository'' I''m now to Debian, and could us some help. Where can I get a copy of Rdoc?

Compact SSH?
I am looking for a micro ssh server/client implementation. This implementation would have to be small enough to run on microprocessors. e.g. systems with <512KB memory and ~20Mhz 8bit processors - like a Rabbit or a PIC. I have looked around but have not found anything suitable. Does anyone have a recommendataion? Thanks in advance. Thomas DuBuisson

wxruby2 swig retooling "complete"
I just re-integrated fixdeleting.rb, the last of the post-processors. Running minimal.rb no longer segfaults on exit. Running dialogs.rb and immediately exiting doesn''t segfault, but bringing up a dialog and then exiting does. So there are still memory problems, but fewer than yesterday :-/ I''m not sure how it compares to last week. I probably won''t have much time

Having problems with quantreg
Hi All, I'm still having significantly difficulty getting the quantreg library running in R. I'm running R on MEPIS using the debs created by Dirk Eddelbuettel and placed in apt testing. When I try to install quantreg using the install.packages() function it fails with: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lblas-3 Dirk was nice enough to send me a .deb for quantreg which installs without

RC1 & RC3 break PageMaker
PageMaker was running OK (except duplex printing wrong) on 0.9 wines. With RC1 & RC3 (didn't try RC2) PageMaker starts to open, cycles my scanner (???), and quits. I went back to 0.9.61-1 all is well again. Any thoughts? I did a reinstall of PM, but it had no effect.

Mandrake 10.1
Dear all, I am trying to install the R-2.0.0-1mdk.i586.rpm <http://cran.planetmirror.com/bin/linux/mandrake/10.0/R-2.0.0-1mdk.i586.rpm> file on mandrake 10.1. Since the file is, originally, meant for Mandrake 10.0, it is not surprising me that the installation does not work. The error message that I get can be translated in something like: "impossible to install since the info

Graphics 'snapshots' in Linux?
Hi, I'm working on a MEPIS (Debian-based Linux) computer, using the emacs/ESS package to do my R work. I've got some plots that I label interactively using the locate function. With the Windows GUI there is an option to take a snapshot of the graphics output, saving it as an image file. Is there a way to do this with emacs/ESS? Thanks, Tyler

hostname and smbstatus
Hi, I'm having problems with seeing the hostname of a Linux box correctly under Samba with smbstatus. Background: I'm running Debian sarge with Samba 3.0.5 on a server that I built. It sits on our local network behind a Smoothwall firewall, which functions as a virtual nameserver using our ISP's DNS servers for resolution. I've been able to set up our Windows machines without
