Forum Software Update and mailing list gateway
Hi folks, the volunteer admins for forum.winehq.org have been deleting an increasing amount of spam lately, and it seems clear that we need to update the forum software to a new release with better antispam features. The catch is, the mailing list gateway plugin is not compatible with the new version of the forum. It looks like the users are split about 90% on the forum and about 10% on the

Coping WoW tree
I have just been told that I can copy the installed WoW tree from Win XP to Wine (same machine, dual boot) because WoW doesnt use the registry. Granted, that would save a lot of time, BUT, is it true? Thanks, Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Bug 13517: Forums breaking mailing list
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13517 Is Wine going to have to lose even more experienced users over a stupid bug? Does WineHQ really value new users over those who have the knowledge and are willing to help? Let's move towards resolution on this and consolidate on Google Groups already, before it's too late. -- Paul Johnson baloo at ursine.ca -------------- next part

WOW won't start
Just installed WOW, Burning Crusade, patch. Won't go past the first startup screen. Looked at AppDB, found bug 8774. Sounds like that could be (or be related to) what I'm getting. Ran 'glxgears' and got the following: volunteer at bigkona:~$ glxgears Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

Mailing list <-> forum gateway
Hi all, First off - this is not flame bait or a troll. It's a genuine question. Since the forum gateway was introduced, it is my opinion that this list is getting flooded with newbie questions. Check the "I just installed Ubuntu" thread for a typical example. I wish to silently remove all wine-forum posts and their replies from my inbox. I plan to filter based on From:

RFC: Potential idea to consolidate forums and lists
I'm making a request for comments in an effort to bring a minor but nagging bug to some kind of multilaterally-beneficial conclusion, and deliberately held off until after the 1.0 release in case this turns out to be a bigger deal than originally anticipated. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13517 The first proposed suggestion is that a more consistent method for handling the

XML issue
Debian Lenny, latest Wine. I just installed a program that my WOW guild is raving about. Had to install .NET 2 to get it to run. Only problem so far is that I can't open a saved profile. It saves in XML format. That part seems ok, but I can't open it again. The process hangs on the first of three steps, locks up, and I have to force quit the app. I can open and read the file with a web

XP SP2
I know someone who has been using Wine to run a State campaign finance reporting program, works fine. But a new version is out and must be used starting end of March. If keeping winecfg to XP, the new version will require SP2. Does the program have any chance of working? In other words, what "version" of XP does Wine use? WOW "fixes"
I've run across the following two articles on the wow wiki. The first link is the general page for Linux/Wine. The sound and voice chat is what I'm most interested in about the second link. Can anyone comment on how current and useful these tips are? It's nice to know that Blizzard knows about and actually seems to "care" about Linux users, but I really do NOT want to break
