Re: WoW quits right after I click PLAY
well, as an update, i wiped that hard drive off and replaced it with a larger drive. So I'm now running Ubuntu 10.10. My vid card is an Intel GMA950. Onboard, it sucks, I know. However, this computer WAS playing WoW before I converted it to Ubuntu, so I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. There's NO way I'm going back to Windows, but I haven't played my game now

Wine crashes on WoW install
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with WINE 1.2. I had to replace my hard drive, so this is a fresh install of both Ubuntu and WINE. I can accept the user agreements and open the installer, but when I get to the world.MPQ (i think thats the file) file, WINE crashes and tells me there was something wrong and the install hangs at 24%. I'm fairly new to Ubuntu AND WINE so I don't know where to

WoW quits right after I click PLAY
Hope someone is able to help. I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04. Also have a fresh Wine 1.3.6. WoW 4.0.1 installed without any issues and the Launcher seems fine. Right after I click PLAY the app quits. Here's the first thing the terminal gives: Code: wine: Unhandled illegal instruction at address 0xa8d280 (thread 0009), starting debugger... After I hit close on the Application

WoW crashes Wine
So I managed to install and get WoW running on my Eee PC 1000HD. However, the program will crash unexpectedly after 5-20 minutes. There doesn't seem to be a predictable occurrence that causes it to crash tho. I have been looking for answers but have found nothing so far. I should clarify that it isnt a complete crash. Wine pops up an error about how it needs to close but I can still hear

WoW crashes after clicking play from launcher
I installed World of Warcraft and I am able to bring up the Launcher screen. I click play, the launcher disappears as it should but then the login screen never comes up. The Wine window has to force the process to stop in order to exit Wine. I'm Using Ubuntu 10.10 with an ATI graphics card. Any ideas?

Wine folder wrong
I keep getting this error [Image: http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o83/Ladydragon1976/Linux/wine_error.jpg ] I am using opensuse 11.3 and I had Yast2 install it for me. and it puts .wine under my home folder "/home/jennifer/.wine/"and does not write it to the Doc folder. Is there any way in KDE 4.4 to change the path for that. I tried right clicking it but no option there to do

White screen after some time in WoW
My problem: After some time playing WoW (about 1-2 minutes) the whole screen turns white. Everything else seems to work perfectly, I still have sound and I still can interact with my character. I can even open a terminal (blindfolded) and type 'killall WoW.exe' to quit WoW and make the white screen go away. wine --version outputs 'wine-1.1.37' I use the propiertary nVidia drivers

Wine 1.2 + Kernel 2.6.34.2 + nVidia 256.44 + WoW = Crash!
The above mentioned combination results in WoW/Wine crashing my computer completely. It freezes completely. No mouse, no keyboard. It just sits there. I can though login via SSH from another computer, and the load is then sitting at 14-15 (using top), which is a bit high. :) The only way to get it back in normal shape, is a hard reboot. Click the powerbutton for 4 seconds, and hope for the best.

Xfire Crashing
I am having some troubles with Xfire (installer number 43094). I am running Ubuntu 10.10. Xfire starts and I can log in, but as soon as I click something, it crashes. I'm starting with a fresh WINEPREFIX. There is nothing else installed there, and no changes in winecfg. Windows version is set to XP. First couple trys, running Wine 1.2.2 from the Ubuntu repositories:

WoW Performance - Degrades over Time
Hi All, I've posted for some suggestions in the WoW forums, but it's been suggested that I post here as well, as I'm more likely to get someone who has a clue :) PROBLEM ====== After an extended play time in one area (~ 1 hour), or rapid travel between areas, the performance degrades substantially. It goes from 60+ FPS to about 5FPS and doesn't recover until I restart the game.

WoW - Ubuntu 10.10 - ATI HD5770
Hello all, I'm running WoW on Ubuntu 10.10 with the latest wine version as well as latest fglrx drivers. WoW runs quite well except that under the video settings, I can't turn the custom graphics settings to anything else than low. The reason in wow is: "Requires a shader model 3 capable graphics card" My card is an ATI HD5770 so I know it supports SM3. What am I supposed to

WoW - WotLK - install is a hassle :(
Very disappointing on the install so far. The files are on the disk in some format that is only letting me see two of the 'some number more than two' files that are there. One of the files I can see is and Install.exe but it does nothing when double clicked, nothing when I right click and select 'Open with "Wine Windows Program Loader"'. When I try to run it from a
