Exception 0xc06d007f in Civ IV Warlords
I've been successfully playing Civ IV in wine for some time, but recently I've been trying unsuccessfully to upgrade to the Warlords expansion. I tried various suggestions that I found through google, including those on wine's appdb. Basically, I've tried every combination of: setting Direct3d 9 to be native installing msxml3 via winetricks and making it native disabling

Civ IV
Hello, I'm trying to get Civ IV running on my 64 bit version of Ubuntu 7.10 using the latest Wine version using these directions: http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2007/06/10/special-civilization-iv-playable-on-linux/ (the winehq appDB points to this guide as well) I'm having problems getting CivIV to run though. Firstly, looking at the wine settings here:

wine-1.1.29 crash on civ IV
Hi, I'm running into errors trying to launch Civilization IV (both basic and BtS). I followed the instructions from the thread below: http://osdir.com/ml/wine-users/2009-08/msg00427.html ...and changed OffscreenRenderingMode to "backbuffer". This solves the problem described there but runs into another. Setting it to "pbuffer" gives the same result: -------8<--------

Civ 4 patch help?
Hello. I'm following the instructions on how to install Civ 4 on my Ubuntu system. I've had it working perfectly in the past, but this time I come to a stop every time I try to patch to 1.74. The patch installer doesn't recognise that I have an existing installation of Civ on my system. Sorry to be a pain in the arse, but I can't remember if this happened before and if it did how

mount problems during install
Hi there! I'm a very confident wine user and totally pleasured except this issue: When trying to install a program requiring more then one cd (in this case Soldier of Fortune 2) the installer asks me to change the cd, but as linux requires to unmount cds before they can be ejected and unmounting is not possible even by -forcing it because of the program on the cd being in use. Is there any

Installing Civ 3
I tried to install Civ 3 the other day. I think I might have got it installed right. Then when i went to run it, it did not work properly while detecting the cd in the cd rom tray. I figured i would ask this question to see what everyone thinks. Could it be that Civ 3 does not run due to the speed of the cd while running "through" wine? Im pretty sure that Civ3 requires a specific read

Installation from 2 cds
Hi all! I've tried to install Lingvo 12.0 via wine. Everything went well till the point, where the second cd were requested. I've inserted the second cd and made a click at the second-cd request dialog, but nothing happened (but an additional error message in the wine-output): err:msi:msi_view_get_row Error fetching data for 1 And then each time I pushed the "Retry" button

Trouble running Civilization IV on a MAC OS
I have a problem running the game... I've tried installing it twice now and it still doesn't run. The Icon briefly opens on the Dock and the disappears in a few seconds. Also, when I try running the command "civilization4.exe" it doesn't run and no error appears on the screen. It simply reads: ' Command results The command "/Users/adrianfurlan/Library/Application

Being as how we're looking at putting my SO on Linux (she's *so* fed up with Windoze), big question for her: Civ 6 on CentOS? Will it run on C 7? Wait for C 8 (which I was sort of thinking of doing, anyway)? mark

Civ 3 crashes
I'm playing Civ 3 (the 1.29f patched version) on Xubuntu 12.04 with the most recent version of Wine and everything is absolutely fine. Game plays great, moves quickly, not a problem at all. Until, that is, I get to the second new era screen (around the Nationalism advance). Then I get a crash with the code invalid parameters (nothing else). It didn't crash during the first new era screen

Civ 3 almost works- Window sizeing issues
Hi. I'm a real big fan of Civ 3 and decided to try to install it on my new Linux computer (Distribution: Arch Linux). The installer, Civ3edit, and sounds work fine, but when I try to start the game, the intro move plays fine, but the game screen looks like this: [Image: http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/9969/90554302.png ] There's no way to resize that window, leaving the game

Can't install Civilization 3 or anything else from multi-cds
If I try to install anything via multi-cd games, after the "insert cd 2" type prompt, I'm done. The setup.exe will not release the cdrom, it keeps it spinning and there is no way to unmount it or stop it that I know of (umount no good) Killing the process will not release the cd drive, the eject button will not work, even the manual eject will not work (as the cd is being spun).
