Wine icons for Windows applications
Hi,
The latest version of Wine on a Ubuntu/Gnome system automatically creates the correct icons when shortcuts are placed in the desktop or "virtual start menu". However, it seems that the largest icon created is 48x48. Can this size be increased as these icons look fuzzy when using applications like Docky with zoom enabled? (or does this need to be changed somewhere else rather than

Persistent desktop icons ?
Hi,
Is it possible to configure persistent desktop icons, e. g. shortcuts
that users can't delete ? On most of my client desktops, I have some
home-made shortcuts, like here for example :
http://www.microlinux.fr/configurations.html
The shortcut on the lower left corner of the screen launches the public
library management system.
Most of the users are quite computer-illiterate, and more

WINE Icons.
Is there any way at all that I can remove the wine glass from icons of WINE? I'm trying to achieve consistency, and unless it's a .lnk(Which I don't want to use), I can't do that.
My question is simply this: Can I remove the WINE glass and show only the raw file icons?

How does Wine extract icons?
I've researched on Google, Wine's wikki and Wine's forum, but I did not find how exactly does Wine to extract the icons from the exe binaries. The only thing that I've found are mentions to third party programs, but anything about Wine itself. May anyone bring some light about the subject?
Thanks.

Smth. about "Icon=" option in .desktop files created by WINE
When I install some Win32 application using WINE, it creates associated menu item file for it, located at ~/.local/share/applications/wine/Programs/***Program title***/***Program shortcut.desktop***. Well, inside this file I see option named "Icon", where path to some icon is set. Sometimes this path points to some PNG image file, but sometimes it points to something I don't have a

CentOS 5.2 - Nautilus - file types are not associated with an action and icons are not displayed
Hi all,
I use CentOS 5.2 as a desktop and the Gnome Nautilus doesn't display
icons related to the file types and all associated actions ("open with")
are lost. It is so bad, that the desktop shortcuts are displayed as
ordinary files "Filesystem.desktop" or
"openoffice.org-1.9-calc.desktop", and when I click on them, the
Nautilus wants to know what it should

Strange problem with icons!
Check out these MSKB articles. They describe how shortcuts are
resolved. In particular, the last one describes the process required to
"fix" this behaviour.
I had a LOT of trouble when I first set up my LAN because people had a
nasty habit of sharing drive C (even I used to do this until I
discovered that this is a Bad Idea). The main problem is that the
shortcut includes the UNC

No text or buttons/icons
Good morning. I have been having problems with WINE and not being able to see the text or buttons/icons at the top of the app, or when I open any of the tabs. I have the latest version of WINE and am still having the same problems. If I click on the individual tabs all I get is a quick view (faster then a blink of an eye) of the text, so I can not even configure WINE if I wanted to. Please help

Preventing Wine from creating shortcuts
Hey, I'm new to the forums but by no means a noob
but it's come to the point lately where I'm creating scripts (bash mixed with autoit) where I create a new bottle, silently install the program and then do any fixes etc in the script making it all completely automated (as i tend to re-install my system a lot)
The issue I'm having though is the shortcuts wine creates

Question concerning creating .exe shorcuts.
Hey guys,
I was curious about something. When Wine installs a program, that creates a shortcut after installation, it is usually placed on the desktop (as it would in Windows).
So how I can create the same type of shortcut which will use the .exe's inbuilt icon; as Wine does? I know how to create a shortcut but i'd manually need to search for a .png file to use as that shortcuts icon.

Icons not appearing
Hello,
I assume this is a common item, b my icons are not appearing in the
menu bar in my application, although I have seen screenshots of the
same application running on other wine setups witht he icons.
Is this related to my X settings, or is there something else I should look at?
Thanks,

Slow update time for Desktop icons
I've got one user that I just put onto the new Samba 3.0.8 server. He's on
WinXP SP1. He has a ton of icons and things on his desktop (39M worth of
data according to his profile) but I'm not sure if that is a problem. When
he logs in, a few of his icons which point to network applications have only
the default Windows shortcut image. If he right-clicks the Desktop and

Missing Toolbar Icons?
Hello all.
It's been a long while since I posted to this list but here goes.
When running the latest sidenet config I get no toolbar Icons in IE.
Where the icons are supposed to be is just an empty space. (that you can
still hover over). The console shows a fair amount of errors. Icon
related error is:

How to extract icons?
Hi!
If I have a Windows-program, which comes with an installer and the program
wants to create icons on the desktop, then Wine creates on the desktop a
link to the installed program, extract an xpm icon from it and use it as
icon for the desktop.
But if I have a program with no installer and I want to bring it manually on
the desktop (what I already have done), how can I extract the nice icon

Simple windows application not quite working
I am trying a popular simple educational windows application on Ubuntu (8.10) and Wine 1.1.12.
The application is called Atoumath (simple application to test metal calculation capabilities: http://www.kervenec.net/atoumath/telecharge.php). Sorry it is a french application but it is quite easy to install and use.
I am able to install and run the application with Wine but some of the UI is not

Recovering Icons
So I upgraded my computer, and did a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04
To prevent myself from having to install all my wine apps, i just copied my .wine folder over to the new install.
I should note that this worked like a charm and I thought it was too easy to be true at first.
However, I am having the problem where I cannot find the icons for my desktop. I am wondering if these icons are stored
